Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, Please receive our greetings in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. These have been a difficult couple of months in the ministry. But, I thank God who has strengthened me and has called me into his service. These difficult times that we have gone through remind me of a song that says "In the struggle and in the trial, the Christian presses on..." During these times we have been strengthened and guided by the Lord. We have also seen how the Lord cares for his people; he knows those who are his and he separates the wheat from the tares. One has to recognize that many times we have tried to use human means to fill our churches but then we find ourselves in the midst of problems. This highlights the great importance of preaching the true gospel and of guiding people toward good doctrine which leads people to a God glorifying faith. Now we are praying for many people who have left our church to return to the world. We pray that the someday they may repent. The Lord has many ways of challenging us and of affirming our faith. During the month of April, some families from our church went through some serious trials. For example the Porras family; their only daughter, a fifteen year old, was involved in a motorcycle accident and her hipbone was displaced. This faithful young girl, who has a great desire to serve the Lord, had this accident the day before she was to begin serving as a Sunday School teacher. This young girl, and her strength in the midst of difficulties has been a blessing to us. Another examples is the Pacherrez family. The head of this family is a very faithful brother who had to have an emergency surgery. In both of these cases the Lord has blessed in the recuperation of these brothers. These situations have also provided opportunities to share the gospel with these brothers' family members. Then there is the case of a sister Valdez. She was born with problems in her feet and has never walked normally. She came to know the Lord as a child and she has lived a faithful Christian life. Five years ago, she fell down the stairs at her school and she broke a bone in her knee. Because of financial considerations she was not operated on and the bone did not grow back right. Now it is very difficult for her to walk. She desires to be able to walk again and we are trying to raise the money for this through the churches in the Sullana area. I continue to help out at the seminary in Sullana by teaching. I try to impart not only knowledge to my students but also to share with them from my pastoral experience. The students have been taking some mission trips but I have been unable to go because I have needed to be at home with my family. -Please pray for our home life. -Thank the Lord for the difficulties and trials that he has sent to our church and please do pray for our church. -I thank God for his provision through HeartCry. May the Lord bless each of your lives, Carlos G.
