I greet you brothers in the precious name of our good God and I also write to inform you about the missionary work during this past month.

The Missionary Work

This month we have gone through some difficult moments, but at the same time we have been able to see how the hand of our good God has been at work in a powerful way. Six months ago, the leader of a gang was converted and he attended our services for several weeks. It seemed that he had genuinely been converted. However, we found out that he was continuing to live in adultery with the widow of a murderer who himself was murdered by some unknown assailants who attacked him at his house. When we called this former gang leader to talk with him, he became very angry and he began to create trouble for the church. On April the 14th, my birthday, the brothers were cleaning all along the outside of the church. While they were doing this, this gang leader tried to take possession of part of the church's property. Since the brothers did not allow him to do this, he threatened to kill some of them. Since that time he did not allow his wife or his children to come to church and he abused them. We tried to counsel his wife and children and we prayed and asked the Lord to work in the life of this man.

On April 29th, some hit-men went to this man's house in order to kill him. I received a call for help from his wife and children at 4 am. This was one of the most stirring moments of my life. I remember that when we went to his house we saw his lifeless body with a knife still sticking out of it. His sidewalk was covered in blood; he had been stabbed 22 times. His four year old daughter continued to cling to him and her barefoot feet were covered in her father's blood. His wife, our sister Yovany, gave us the opportunity to speak of Christ during the time between the wake and the funeral. Each night, we saw people make professions of faith. The dead man's parents made professions of faith, as did one of his brother-in-laws, one of his sisters, a cousin, and his wife. A total of 13 people made professions of faith. There is still a great deal of fear in this little town but God is using us and is opening doors for us to share the gospel. Many people who were not open to the gospel before are now willing to listen.

The Church

The church has grown. We have a great deal of work to do in the area of discipleship and in the area of counseling. We are receiving requests from entire families that we go to their homes to teach them the Word of God.
