Dear Brothers,

This month has gone by without any problems at all with respect to the daily activities of the church such as evangelism and the Bible studies that we have on various days of the week (for example, meetings for the women, for the youth, etc.) These Bible studies have awakened some interest in a group of sisters in Christ who have been unable to attend the meetings held by the church because they live some distance away. Because of this my wife Ruth goes twice a week to San Juan de Lurigancho to meet with this group of sisters to study and teach the Scriptures to them at the home of Aide which she has made available for these meetings.

I would also like to report that the church is growing. Attendance has gone up to the point that we have had to buy more chairs since some brothers were having to stand during the service. May all the glory be to God since if there is anything we are conscious of it is that all of this is solely His doing.

Likewise, I continue going to La Molina to teach a group of brothers in Christ that are meeting there on Wednesdays.

I would also like to report that we have been coordinating and planning some details that needed to be worked out in order to have everything in order for the seminary that will start on April 4th of this year. We have decided that we will start with fixing the floor of the church in February. Furthermore, we have now been assigned the topics that each of us will teach on and I was given that of Biblical Counseling so I’ve already started studying that topic.

I would also like to tell you with great joy in my heart that five brothers and sisters in Christ (Hilda, Maximina, Elena, Francis, and Luis) gave testimony of their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ through their baptism which was on the 30th of December. Glory be to God!

As far as the jail ministry, we have had a few problems with regard to getting access to the prison because of the fact that the ID card that authorizes us to go in has expired. Despite the fact that we have done all the paperwork to renew it they still haven’t given us the new one. Nevertheless they have taken into account our testimony and the work that we are doing and are letting us go in using last year’s ID until this all gets taken care of.

The other problem that we’ve had with the prison is that we are working in cell blocks #3 and #20 and yesterday, February 3rd, there was a fight in cell block 20 between two factions that wanted to have control of the cell block. We won’t be able to go into that cell block until everything is safe and back to normal because there one person was killed and several people were injured. I would like to ask for your prayers to God that this situation would not be an impediment to the work that we are doing in that cell block. Please pray especially for brother Julian who is one of the brothers there who we’ve worked longest with and who is our collaborator for cell block 20.

Your brother in Christ,

Rogelio A.
