Hello My Dear Brothers,
It is a great joy to write this report to tell about the great things the Lord has been doing in this time.
The Church of the Savior in Barranco is growing more and more, but at the same time it represents a great burden in our hearts, because it involves a serious responsibility in evangelism and discipleship. Every person who comes needs prayer. We are accountable to pray for every sheep in the flock and it demands great concern on our behalf for their needs and specially for their spiritual health and their walk before the Lord. Please pray for elders here and deacons, but at the same time, I would like you to pray for our church to realize this is a Church task, as a whole, not only a pastoral job, but a corporate issue, we have to pray one for another, we have to exhort one for another, every task in the Bible implies this “one for another”.
There was a baptism service last Sunday and it was a great joy to see people doing this in obedience to the commandment of the Lord. Praise be the Lord.
I went through a time of weakness this month, being tested in my health. Every time I am tested in this area I realize how weak I am and it helps me to consider my life as vapor and to see all the things from an eternal perspective. We will die one day, we are not immortal, but are eternal, our life is not restricted to this side of eternity, but goes beyond, we have an eternal home. Praise be the Lord for every trial in our life. May I say as Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:1 “For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens”.
We are studying in an exegetical way the book of Ephesians on Saturday nights. We are now in chapter 5 seeing the practical importance of the doctrines which were expounded in chapters 1 through 3. Eder M. and Junior C., two young men who are serving to the Lord along with us, are teaching too. Both of them have been greatly gifted by the Holy Spirit and it is a great privilege to see them growing in spiritual knowledge and wisdom. They are a great encouragement not only for me but for the congregation too and at the same time a good example of the work of the Lord. We praise the Lord for them and pray for God to continue using them to take the Gospel to the end of this age.
Junior C. and Juan, a brother who came from Mexico to study the Word of God in the seminary here at the Church, were in the jungle preaching the Gospel there. They have just came and they can tell us about the great malady and corruption of men there and the incredible joy of being witnesses among such a wicked people. They went to serve and teach there at a Church, but when they arrived nobody was waiting for them, all their plans were not God’s so they trusted in the Lord for His guidance and mercy in the middle of this situation. They found a brother there who took them to a Baptist church which was 3 blocks away from the place where they were staying. They found people who were lax, but the Lord directed them to this place to encourage this people to witness. They were witnessing in corners and main squares, calling to people to repentance and faith, but they found the people knew what to do, but were not willing to repent and come to the Lord, leaving their life behind. It is exactly what the Bible says, people love their lives of sin more than light, that is why they don’t want to turn from their life of wickedness because they love darkness, but at the same time we know the Lord is the One who can open their eyes for them to see. We rejoice in the Lord and I praise Him for His amazing work in both of them and because the Word of God reached those isolated places. I rejoice in the Lord, Jesus was proclaimed!!!
Praised be the Lord for His amazing love to us. I rejoice in Christ, not for His gifts but for the Gift, HE Himself. What a great mercy we have received in Him!!
Our thanks to people who support us through this ministry. May the Lord bless their lives. In Jesus Name,
Walter I.
