Greetings Beloved Brothers in The Lord,
This month we had many challenges, as we continued preaching at the San Marcos University. This preaching is bearing fruit in people becoming aware of the everlasting Gospel. Some of the students who are Christians came to us and are willing to start evangelizing as well. A young student who is attending another church, came to our church to visit us to know more about doctrine. Also, as we were praying for this ministry, we were invited by some atheist students to the auditorium of philosophy where we met the president of the Peruvian Atheist Association. Then we requested to have a debate with them, which they accepted. God willing, it will be on August 25th. Please pray for these souls to repent and believe in the gospel.
Also we went to a small non-denominational church in San Juan de Miraflores where we taught biblical evangelism on June 10th and 17th. These brothers were encouraged to start preaching the gospel.
We had our class of the School of Evangelism on June 31st, where four brothers from a church in Camacho, Monterrico, came to get training. They will come with us to The Kennedy Park to get practical training in evangelism. At church we also had our class of evangelism on June 25th where all our brothers had the opportunity to have a better understanding of the proclamation of the gospel. Then, right after the service, we went through our neighborhood knocking on doors house by house where we had a good reception. We are praying for our neighbors. On June 30th we had our prayer meeting too, where we prayed and worshipped The lord asking for his guidance in the work of evangelism, and for the lost souls as well.
I also had the opportunity to preach in our congregation on a very important topic of our faith: the lost proclamation of the gospel in our midst. I called the sermon "The Forgotten Commandment" and I tried to show how neither in our doctrine nor in our confessions of faith, such us the Westminster Confession, or the 1689 Baptist Confession, is it explained nor even mentioned the Great Comission as a commandment from our Lord. It was very shocking for me discovering this, but it made me realize that we must obey what the Bible says, and not men. The congregation was confronted with this and I think we have grown in this as a church. Also I'm already writing a workbook called "The Forgotten Commandment" as well, which I'm praying could be used as a basic discipleship book for every sincere Christian who loves The Lord and wants to do His will in the proclamation of the gospel. Please pray for this as well.
The evangelism videos that we began to do some months ago are being developed by a brother of our church, Benigno, who is continuing with this project with my direct supervision. Little by little we'll be producing our first video. We are praying for this too.
Our evangelism team is responding as always and we are going every Wednesday and Friday to the park, where some of the people that we have met have come to church. Others like a young Mexican girl, Karina, who came to Lima for vacations, heard the gospel, then a sister in Christ called Tina talked to her and now she has repented of her sins. She told us in an e-mail that she is attending a church in Mexico and wants to serve Christ. Glory to God! Please pray that God may confirm His work of salvation in her.
In Christ,
Alfonso N.
