Dear brothers in Christ:

I am really encouraged in seeing what the Lord is doing. Many people are writing every day telling us the great things God has accomplished in their lives. Every day we pray for wisdom from the Lord to help our brothers in different countries. They write us and tell us about the amazing things the Lord has taught them. Please pray for the work in South America through HeartCry and we are really thankful for the amazing things the Lord is doing among us and for using us to advance the Kingdom of God. People continue writing and calling us to know and learn more about the true gospel and doctrine. Most of them can’t even find a true and biblical church in the place where they live. We pray for the Lord to give us wisdom to help them in their spiritual seeking of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

I was visiting my family in Argentina for 15 days. My parents live in a small city named San Cristóbal, which is 450 miles away from Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. They were so happy because I went back to my home after one and a half years. They are separated and that situation is really hard for me, because they hate each other because of many things. They are not Christians and this is another burden. I had a burden to go to Argentina in my heart because our Lord commands us to honor our parents and that is why I decided to go to visit them and spend some time with them.

I was visiting my grandmother and my uncles and aunts.
They were for a while professing faith, but now I realize it was not in Jesus. They were just following Jesus because they thought God was going to prosper their lives and increase their money. I was talking to them but they were not interested in hearing about the gospel. I was talking to my uncle because he is a heavy drinker, but he didn’t want to hear and examine himself. I was really sad in seeing the spiritual state of my family, but I understood that we are not God, we only are instruments in his hands and our work is to proclaim the Gospel to every creature and He is the One who gives salvation. My heart was and is really sad because they realize they can’t do anything on their own and despite the fact that they can see this, they don’t want too.

The Church I was attending before coming to Perú is not growing in any way.
I am so sad, but I have to say that there is no passion, no burden, and no vision to preach the gospel to win souls. There is no direction, no pastor, no people who want to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and this is due to the fact that they are not growing in grace before God and before people. I am ashamed of saying this, but I need to say that everyone, even me, has a measure of guilt in this situation. We have been preaching for years a “false gospel” and thought people were saved only by “repeating a prayer” and then “it’s done”. I was teaching some brothers, but instead of hearing they thought I was bringing a “new doctrine”. But I am not depressed for this situation, ‘cause I know my Lord was treated in this way also, in His own nation, in His own town, by His own people, even His own family. I see how the resurrection impacted their lives with power and the Holy Spirit filled them with joy and grace from above to preach and spread the gospel till the end of the world.. I will continue praying for them and their salvation in God’s time.

There is one brother and his wife and two daughters who are serving there in San Cristóbal, Argentina.
His name is José S. and his wife’s name is Laura. José is serving the Lord in the Church as preacher, but he has no preparation and most of his teachings are related to biblical people and their lives, more like a Sunday school for children than an expository sermon. He is struggling with different problems: people who are introducing themselves and proclaiming a different gospel (prosperity “gospel”), brothers who are not growing in grace and knowledge of the Lord, false doctrines, false brothers, and these issues have not been a discouragement to him, but an opportunity to rejoice in the Lord. I was explaining to him more of the gospel and the doctrine of God and I gave him some books for him to read and may the Lord use these materials to give them wisdom and spiritual knowledge to know Him. He has a passion for studying, but he has few resources to study the Scriptures. We don’t need a lot of books to know the Lord, his revelation is sufficient, but we need to study diligently the Scriptures and other materials can help us in this amazing ministry.

Pastor Martin was traveling to Buenos Aires and Córdoba (two cities in Argentina) and good news is coming from these places. The Lord has used him and his wife in a tremendous way and we can see how our great and glorious God is awakening His people in different places in South America. Continue praying for this work, God’s Work, and thank you for supporting this ministry through their praying and offerings.

I was in Las Lomas, Sullana, a small town in the northern part of Perú, preaching the Gospel there and teaching many brothers who attend Church there and serve the Lord with great joy. It was the ninth anniversary of the Baptist Church there and they organized an open air meeting in front of the main park and next to the City Hall. It was something really awesome, but at the same time a new experience. I felt like ancient preachers who preached in open areas and called the sinners to repentance and faith only trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit bringing conviction of sin, justice and judgment. My brothers sang some hymns and then I preached the Gospel on Romans chapter 1.

There where a lot of people hearing even on the trees, fearful of getting seen by people who were walking around. During the sermon I felt like saying those people: “hey you get down off the tree” like our Lord said to Zacchaeus, but I can’t see people’s hearts. After preaching, my brothers and I began to testify one by one, explaining in a personal way the Gospel. I was preaching the Gospel to a young named Junior. He was really ashamed for his life of sin and he told me he was repentant for his style of living. I was talking to them of the Gospel and true repentance and the evidences of a true Christian and of true “acceptance” of Jesus as Savior in the life of someone.  He attended Church the next day and I pray the Lord has used His words to bring Junior to Him, to true repentance and faith in Jesus.

Rene C. is the pastor there and I have to say that he is a man of God. He is a young pastor, he is 25 years old, but the Lord has filled them with wisdom, faith, joy, and love for brethren and it has been a blessing for me to spend those days along with him. He has been studying at Daniel C.s’ Bible institute and during that time he was sent to this Church to minister. Brothers saw he was diligent and his love for Christ and for them and they asked him to stay there and become their pastor. He thought of it for a while and then he obeyed the Lord in this task and he is serving among this Church today.

They asked me to preach on the Gospel and I preached about God and His attributes, explaining that the Gospel doesn’t begin with man, but with God. Our lack of knowledge of God and His Person is the root of all our changes and misinterpretations on the Gospel and on man and his depravity. After this meeting, some people came to ask many questions with regard to the Gospel and the nature of God. They were so impacted because most of us think about God only in terms of Love, but not as a Sovereign, Righteous, Patient, Omniscience, Almighty God, and as the One who can operate on man’s heart and bring people from darkness to light.  It was on Sunday morning and at night I was preaching on Regeneration and how we can find this doctrine in the Bible as a supernatural work of God in man, changing His will and nature, not as an outward work, but an inward work which is evident in holiness and the fruit of righteousness. I was really joyful and glad because the Lord was glorified and His Word was preached and his kingdom was advanced.

I want to thank God for Luis Alberto T. He is a twenty-four-years-old young man who was going to church since he was twelve years old. He was always listening to the gospel but he was stubborn. He was doing a lot of bad things during his time and his life was not showing true fruit of repentance and faith. He was in jail for robbing and when he was there some brothers went to visit him, to preach him the gospel. He had a false security and was telling them he was a true believer because he prayed a prayer once. But the Lord showed him that he wasn’t living as a true believer and he realized about his condition and came to the Lord in repentance and faith and we glorify the Lord for these things HE made in Alberto’s life. We pray the Lord give him wisdom and guidance and preserve him without fall until His kingdom in Glory. Please pray for his life and for the Lord to keep him faithful to His Word. I praise the Lord for his life, because I can see God’s work in his life and all the glory is for the Lord, for His gifts of repentance and faith. I say these things not to exalt his life, but to exalt the Supremacy of the Lord in changing a man and bringing him from darkness to light, from the world to the kingdom of heaven, from Satan to God, from enmity to friendship, from death to life. What a great joy in seeing God’s work in many people who were once blind but now they see!!

Now Alberto is serving the Lord in the mountains. The Lord has taken him to preach the Gospel and help another brother there. They are going to be walking up and down the mountains and visiting small villages, preaching and teaching the Scriptures, proclaiming the good news of Salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He, Elvis and Roric P., other good brothers in Christ, are going to spend 7 days in the mountains and we are really encouraged in seeing what the Lord is doing in his life. The Lord has saved them and he is using him to take the gospel to the most isolated parts of this country. We pray the Lord continue saving people and sending them to the end of this world, and giving them a great burden in their hearts to GO and invest their lives in serving our Great and Glorious God. Alberto has phoned us and told about the great things the Lord is doing through them up there in the mountains. They are visiting a lot villages and small towns and people are so receptive to the Gospel. They are preaching and the same people who hear the good news are inviting them to spend the night in their houses, providing food and rest for them. What a great blessing for our lives in hearing that the Lord is being glorified and His kingdom is advanced! We pray the Lord used their lives in a great way and they present their bodies as a living sacrifice. As the hymn says: How great Thou Art!!

Please continue praying for our youth meetings. We continue teaching in an exegetical way the book of Hebrews and it has been a tremendous blessing for my life and for youth’s lives. Now we are studying chapter 8 and explaining more about the New Covenant in Jesus, the Christ. I am really thankful to the Lord for this group of young people and I can say with great confidence and joy in the Lord that our great and glorious God has given us a good group of youth and they are growing in their knowledge of the Scriptures and in grace in the Lord. I am really, really thankful for this and my heart is full of joy and gratitude to my Lord and God, hoping the Lord will continue giving me wisdom and grace to keep sharing with them the amazing things that are in Scriptures. It has been a blessing and I have never seen a group of young people who share their faith with boldness and confidence in the Lord. What a great joy to see God’s work in their hearts!!! As I teach them the word I remember the words of the preacher: “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth”. Please pray for these people, for the Lord to sustain, preserve and persevere His work in them, until the day of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A group of youth came to Church in Barranco. They had been looking for a true, biblical Church, but they couldn’t find anyone. So they were checking some web pages out in internet and the Lord guided them to the Church of the Savior in Barranco. They want to learn more about the Lord, the true Gospel and the doctrines of Grace. Rogelio A. is having some meetings with them in his house, doing discipleship with them and teaching them about the character of Christ. Now they are studying the short catechism and our brother Jose R. is teaching them with great diligence and patience every Sunday morning. Pray for these youth, for the Lord to use them to take the Gospel to the most isolated places of Peru and the world. Martín Z. is doing a discipleship along with them every Friday and we can see their growth in the knowledge of our Lord.

Please pray for my life and for God to enlighten through His mighty Spirit my heart to be able to understand His Word and the amazing truth of the Gospel in our Lord Jesus. God is the Gospel and this is an amazing truth. Pray for God strengthen my life more and more through His Word and Holy Spirit. May the Son Of God receive the full reward for His suffering.

I am really, really thankful to the Lord and people who are giving through HeartCry to support missionaries here in Peru and throughout the world. My gratitude to the Lord and many, many thanks to people who are supporting this ministry. I cannot help giving my gratitude to the Lord for their lives and every time I remember them I give thanks to the Lord for such a grace in their lives in giving themselves to this grace. May the Lord abound more and more in their lives.

May God be praised and His Name Glorified.

In Jesus Christ,

Your brother and friend,

Walter Isse
