The following is Martin Zacarias' report from his recent trip to Argentina.

Background

Argentina was the first evangelized country in Latin America, the first British, German, Dutch, French, Scottish and Italian men came with the true gospel, many of them suffered persecution by the Catholic church, but this helped the propagation of the gospel and even led many to go to other countries of the region taking the truth of God.

It has been almost two centuries since this great awakening from The Lord. But then came the wolves among the sheep, men who have no respect for the Word of God, who love more their glory than God's glory, therefore Argentina is today manufacturing evangelists who are proclaiming false gospels and the biggest evangelistics campaigns which are held in this country. Also decisionism has led to many unconverted professing believers who walk in the vanity of their minds.

The Awakening

But thanks to God, there's an awakening and we are witnesses of this. Hundreds of young men write to us telling what God is doing in their lives, leading them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. One of them told me on this trip, "Pastor, it is amazing, two years ago I lived in misery and filthiness in my sins, but today I hate them with all of my soul, I can't watch television without becoming uncomfortable. I don't even go to the shopping malls because I see sin everywhere." Is this normal? I asked myself, so I get  the answer, yes this is normal, it is the work of God! And like this young man, many people are in the same condition. It has been a joy seeing the miracle that is happening all over the world, and in Argentina too.

One of the proofs is how they are so humble now to listen to a Peruvian man. One of them said, "The people of God are indifferent to these human things (differences between countries)" The conferences that we have held in Peru are being distributed everywhere and by the internet, which is a valuable tool to spread the truth.
I can be sure that this is the work of God because of  the holiness which is being produced in all the people who repent and believe in the Jesus of Scriptures. Let us maintain our prayers for these brothers who are willing to give their lives for God's sake. There are some brothers who want to come to Peru and spend some time with us for their training, we have to pray about that.

The Opossition

Like in every place where the work of God is moving with power there is oppostition as well, and it is not strange to us because the Scriptures admonish about this. Several of these young brothers suffered the reproach of their pastors. Even from the pulpit, they mock at them without knowing the sovereign grace of the supernatural work of God in salvation. So their response is to go out in the streets and trains and preach the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. The humility that accompanies salvation is a characteristic in them, they don't return evil for evil, instead they do good. Pray for them.

Many of them with little Biblical instruction are capable of shutting the mouths of those who call themselves "doctors of evangelism." The wisdom which has been given to them is impressive, I was amazed and learned a lot from them. Many of them said to me, "Now we understand the texts which speak about suffering for Christ sake, as in 2 Timothy 3:12 " and all that will live  godly lives  in  Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." Some who opposed us have been my teachers at the "Biblical" Institutes and it is amazing to see how they are still in the ignorance of their reasonings, there is no way for them to enter into the true meaning of the texts, this is the work of God.

Conclusion

As a result of the meetings in Cordova and Buenos Aires we met many people who are interested in getting prepared for ministry. Also there are many invitations which we can't respond to because of our responsibilities and ministry in Peru. I think that this advancing growth in the knowledge and grace of God is His work and that He is fulfilling it according to His promise. But we are very joyful to be a part of all this work, there are almost 400  people following the on line discipleship class that we are offering and a great percentage of them are from Argentina. We are amazed by all that God is doing in the midst of us.
