Testimony and Calling

My childhood was very complicated because my parents separated when I was two years old and I went into the custody of my paternal grandmother. She raised me in her custody until I was nine, when I started working in various different things. I joined the army because during my adolescence I was very affected by the bitterness of being treated badly by my parents and society. My bitterness increased a lot – to the point where I hated my parents and society and, most of all, I hated God. I got lost in sin, drunkenness, conflicts, and hatred.

I left the military and thanks to God and to His Son Jesus Christ, He found me before it was too late and rescued me from that wrong path that I was on and made me into a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17).  God put a pastor fiend by my side so that he might disciple me and teach me the path of the Gospel with the Word of God. God turned me from my evil ways. He has taught me to forgive those who harmed me, to love my neighbor, and to follow Him day by day. Since then I have continued onward, looking to Christ, day after day learning His Word and growing spiritually, serving Him as a Christian, but I can’t say that it’s been easy.

For me the Christian life is a struggle, a constant battle with the enemy Satan and his weapons of sin and destruction, but every day is a step of victory in Christ Jesus. God had given me a precious wife who is a believer and two sons. This is a challenge for me because as a husband and father I must give then a good testimony and model for them to imitate. I pray to God that He give the grace and mercy of salvation to my sons. In short, this is my conversion testimony.

In the Church
, serving the Lord and seeing the need of salvation in the world, I have been very much impacted by the fact that every day millions of people die and go to hell without Christ and also by seeing how Satan has degraded humanity in delinquency, alcoholism, prostitution and the use of the government to take authority away from the law and away the family. The degradation of the society has increased greatly given that Satan is firm in his goal of destroying humanity.

My calling is also a response of obedience to the Command of Christ in Matthew 28. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” It is my goal to make disciples like Christ, disciples that imitate and love Christ and are conformed to His image for the Glory of God the Father. As Christians we cannot forget that it is the work of Christ to save humanity and that this work has been entrusted to His children: the work of bringing His message of salvation to humanity as ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. We must preach the holy Gospel of God of regeneration and holiness that people might know His holy righteousness and awaken to the reality in which they live, the path to eternal destruction that they are on. There are many who do not know the divine truth and haven’t heard the message of the Gospel and it is the responsibility the every child of God to preach of the Holy Gospel of the truths of God with perseverance. These are the things that have impelled me to work in ministry. I hope to serve Him until death and to finish saying what the apostle Paul said:

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.  -2 Timothy 4:7-8

In conclusion, God has given me the privilege of studying the scriptures and working with Pastor Daniel C. and of learning from him to love Christ and to live in Holiness of the Word. We are pastoring Grace Baptist Church (Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia) and forming a pastoral team for Word of Life Baptist Church (Iglesia Bautista Palabra de Vida). We hope that God continues helping in His grace and continues giving us the privilege of serving Him for the advancement of the Gospel and for the praise of His Grace.
