Yesterday morning I taught a class on missions (the same one that I taught in Sullana) for the students at the Ministerial Academy here in Barranco (Lima). Many of the men that HeartCry supports in the Lima area were also able to attend. The Lord seemed to bless our time together and the questions from the students revealed that many of them had been seriously reflecting on Scripture and were desirous of doing ministry in a Biblical way. Brad White and a couple of the academy students during the class yesterday. In the afternoon I visited with Gustavo R., and Eder M. Gustavo is pastoring a church in the Lima area. Recently he had some health problems but he is doing much better now. Eder is involved in many teaching ministries at the Church of the Savior in Barranco. He is also serving as the director for the new Ministerial Academy. Eder had the privilege of studying at the Ministerial Academy in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 2009. The academy in the Dominican Republic is serving as the model for what is being done here in Barranco. This was the original plan of the brothers in the Dominican Republic; that this model for an abbreviated seminary would be replicated in other countries in Latin America. Thankfully this has happened here and Lord willing it will happen elsewhere.
