On Saturday we traveled from Lima to the northern city of Sullana. On this trip we are limiting our travels to these two places since the majority of our missionaries are in or around these two places.

angelYesterday morning we visited the church where Angel C. (pictured left) is the pastor. He shared a wonderful message from the end of Matthew 1 and the beginning of Matthew 2. Then, I was able to visit with Angel. Both he and his wife are currently struggling with health problems but, as always, his conversation was full of talk about plans related to missions. It is such an encouragement to me to be able to see this brother persevering in the faith and in the work of missions, even in spite of his deteriorating health.

Last night I visited with Jose Luis S. and then we attended the church where Jose Luis is one of the pastors. In addition to pastoring, Jose Luis is one of the professors at the seminary in Sullana and he is the professor for one of the locations where the seminary offers extension classes.

I saw several signs of life at Jose Luis' church that encouraged me. Cassie and I had the chance to visit this church several years ago when it was just beginning and mallaritosthere were very few adults there at that time. Last night we were able to see that the Lord has added many to the number of the congregation. Yet, I also saw some of the same people who were there at the beginning of the church. So, it was encouraging to see that these members have been persevering in the faith. I was also encouraged to see several young men in attendance and Jose Luis even shared about a recent mission trip in which approximately 15 youth and young adults participated.

Please pray for Angel and Jose Luis, both for their work as pastors and as seminary professors both in Sullana and at the extension centers.
