God has a time for everything. It's been a few years since I started to think about meeting in small groups which I have found is a good way to reach unbelievers. I did try to do it here a while back but it just didn't work. It was possible in theory but the people from our church were not ready yet. Since then things have started to change in Zavoloca, a neighboring village. There are 7 church members living there. A family from this village invited some of the neighbors to come over to their place.
It was a surprise when they showed up as it is easier for them to come in winter. They wanted to meet again, and after the second time, they decided to do it on a regular basis. The principle they use is pretty simple, the Bible and nothing more. The topic of the discussion was "The Authority of the Word and the Importance of the Bible in our lives". Six unbelievers come to this meeting and wanted to know the truth. I decided not to be the one to lead the meeting so that they would not think I wanted to manipulate them. They invite me only when they have questions or I help the one who is leading the meeting. I am very glad that this family made their place available. I believe that if the Holy Spirit convicts these people in their hearts, they'll want to go to church. This has been my prayer for years, to have small groups in every family. Pray for this group that it won't be the only one.
I was happy to have a 3-day fellowship time with my brothers from HeartCry in the conference in Cernauti. I am glad to see that these conferences are more and more useful. Our church was blessed to have two guests from HeartCry on Sunday night and two other people from the Romanian Baptist church in Kamenka. I have also visited this village twice this month.
I was invited to preach the gospel at a funeral service in Molodia. The deceased was not a Christian but he wanted to be buried that way because he had a Christian family. There were many non-Christian people there and they all heard the Word even though they were sarcastic in the beginning. Some cried while listening to the message. The family thanked me for preaching the word so clearly, unlike the priests. Pray that God will work in the hearts of those who were there.
We continued the kids ministry. We had something special for Christmas as we gathered many kids from Cernauti, and our church. There were many kids from non-Christian families. The grown-ups usually celebrate Christmas on January 7 but we take advantage of the opportunity and celebrate it on the 25th of December with the kids.
There are several old and sick people in our church. Together with the charity group, we worked hard to reach out and help them. The families of some of them are not Christians so we have to be a light for them.
