God allowed us to continue the work in Patrauti de Sus.
This is the time of the year when people have finished with cropping their harvest and they have more free time. That gives us several opportunities to preach the gospel. This is also election time when a new mayor will be elected. People are already tired of their promises which never come true. But I took this time to tell them about the promises we have in Christ. His promises were true in the past, and will be the same in the future. I would like to share a few things from the ministry here last month.
I had the opportunity to discuss with many people. Some were interested and although others were not, they listened to me out of respect. I visited sister Raia who was in the hospital. I had the opportunity to have a talk with two nurses and a few patients. The starting point was the election, the empty promises of the candidates and then I led the discussion to Jesus. I told them that He made promises and fulfilled them. They confessed that they sometimes prayed and He answered their prayers. I told them that we were not to pray only when we really needed something but to have a permanent relationship with him, to accept His will for our life because He knew what we needed. We had a good talk and felt God working. When I invited them to come to church, they got a little apprehensive. They told me that the priest said we were heretics. They allowed me to pray for them and I urged them to start reading the Bible.
Another opportunity I had was to talk to Ivan. He comes to our church and likes to sing, but he is not really interested in repentance. When I visited his wife in the hospital, he was very surprised and wanted to know why I made such an effort to come all the way to Cernauti. I told him what my purpose was and we also talked about the purpose of life. Sadly, I got the same answer from him, "I'll think about it". I visited him again at his place and continued to tell him about Christ. Also, I talked to several young people to whom I gave a ride. I shared the gospel with them. Sometimes people are willing to listen. People are getting more and more materialistic and not very interested in the gospel.
As I wrote in my previous report, my wife started to teach music. The children are excited and it is a good method to plant the seed of the word in their hearts. We are happy that the parents are ok with that. Actually, they're grateful that we make time for their children. We believe that God will work in the hearts of the parents.
Another event in our church was the wedding of Vasea and Maria C. Although Vasea' s relatives are not Christians, they heard the gospel at the joyful event. We had a music band from Chisinau. The whole program was evangelistic. At the end as I shook hands with all of them some confessed they had never seen or heard anything like it before. We had a special prayer time for Vasea's family so that God would be with them.
Lena and I visited sister Florita in the hospital and prayed for her as she is very sick. Her husband and children are not saved. She admitted that their salvation was more important than her health.
