We continued the missionary work in the village of Ptrauti de Sus. God gave us grace to glorify and praise His Name this month too. Let me share briefly about the most important events regarding the missionary and construction work this month.
We started to have kids coming to church on Sundays. They met separately while we were having the church services. We designated a lady from a church (she is a school teacher) to work with them. She is also involved in the ladies' ministry. We have 6-13 kids, age 2-8. Sister Mila teaches the Bible lesson and then they have a time when they play different games and memorize scriptures. There is a girl whose parents are not Christians that work in Italy. Her grandfather brings her to church.
We want to focus more on the kids ministry. We give it more of our time because I think it's extremely important. The adults are less interested in the gospel now so we want to work more with the kids with the hope that God will touch the hearts of their parents too.
We've had two evangelistic events in our church this month. Two guest speakers from Romania preached for us. Unsaved people have attended both services. We had seven people the first time and four the second time. The preachers talked about what real repentance meant and about a life with the Lord. But nobody made a decision to follow Christ which disappointed us. We try to encourage one another to do everything as if it is up to us, but asking God to convict the people's hearts. At the end of the services, I had the opportunity to talk to the visitors, trying to lead the discussion on a personal level. They wanted to change their lives but I realized they were taking their time. I pray for these people who lost interest in eternal things because they are more anchored in the earthly ones. When I talk to the older people in the village they tell me they have never lived in such times that neighbors and relatives are competing with one another over material things.
I managed to visit four families and shared the gospel with them. I had never been to their homes before and I found it a little difficult to get over the awkwardness of the first visit. I pray that God will give me wisdom and help us befriend them. I also want to be bolder and tell them more from the Word.
As I was talking to a young lady whose name was Adriana, I found out that she was very much into music. I suggested she should listen to Christian music. We had an interesting talk. We talked about the meaning of music and the way it was written. I told her that nowadays non Christian music had no meaning at all. I also showed her a few of our Christian songs that glorified the Name of the Lord and eventually talked about the ultimate purpose of our lives. I gave her a few Christian CDs and encouraged her to listen to them.
On April 14 I had the opportunity to share the gospel with an electrician that we had hired to do the electric system for the new building. We spent a few hours talking. He is fond of reading and reads the Koran and commentaries about it. I urged him to read the Bible too. He likes to read about different religions so that he can compare them. He compared Christ to Mohammed and Buddha. He promised to attend our church.
There are a few more activities that I am going to share very briefly about. I preached at a funeral service on April 6 in Patrauti de Sus and on the 7th in Dranita. I also preached the word in these two churches at the services during the week. On April 17 I went to an evangelistic event in Ciudei. A born-again priest shared his testimony.
People from Vicov and Radauti, Romania, come here two days a month. They help us with the ministry here.
Regarding the construction work, we are done with the electrical and started plastering the walls on the 27th.
Pray for the ministry in this village that God will give us victory and many people will come to Christ. Also, pray that God will provide the necessary money for the church building so that we can finish what we started.
Our desire is to improve the kids ministry and to have as many as possible. We will visit more people with whom we can share the gospel.
