I thank God for the grace and opportunity to serve in His kingdom in this area of the world. Once again we've seen the fruit of the gospel here in Cernauti.
We had four evangelistic events in sports arenas. All of them were in four different places. 34 people from Herta and 80 from Cernauti gave their lives to Christ during the evangelistic services there. These events meant some hard work. I got very much involved in it as the church leader.
I visited the people from Herat and Hliboca and invited them to come to those events. That also gave me the opportunity for the first time to talk to some of them. Generally speaking, it was good. Once again, I understood that it was not the people's responsibility to come to the gospel but the gospel had to be taken to them. If we switch that, it may get a little harder. As far as I am concerned, I want to do personal evangelism rather than invite them to evangelistic events.
This month has been special and unique. Together with my friend, Misa, we were in the village posting posters. But I ran out of glue and I had to go buy another one. Although the store in the village only sold food. we were challenged to talk to some people. It went well, with no incidents. They seemed to be interested in their spiritual need. I will share about one person in particular. Her name is Saveta and she works as a mailman in the village. While she was coming back from work but still had a few letters to give out. She asked us if we could give her a ride. We had an interesting conversation and found that she desperately needed Christ. She had been raised in a Christian home and left after school. She forgot about God and eventually married an unbeliever who was an alcoholic. They had 7 children together. She understood that only God could save and help her. She was aware of her miserable life and needed help. I then understood that sometimes we have to look for the lost and not wait for them to come to church. This woman regretted what she had done in her youth. God gave her another opportunity to hear the gospel and she was receptive to everything we said. That night we had church service and Saveta showed up. She was happy to see that no one was pointing their finger at her. The ladies from our church welcomed her. Like this woman, I believe there are other people waiting for another opportunity from God. It is only Him who can give them hope and a future. Pray for her family that they may have God in their life.
