The greatest blessing for me last month was the annual Heartcry conference. My effort to travel 600 km was nothing compared to what the Lord prepared for us through our brothers who came from even a longer distance. We had various sessions but I want to talk about the the things that particularly resonated in my heart.
Being all by myself in the ministry for 10 years I sometimes feel tired, exhausted, and worse than that, due to the fact that so few people give their lives to Christ, I feel discouraged. I will give no more details, I just want to tell you that I came back stronger, encouraged and with more passion. Even my wife and kids noticed that about me. May God bless you and reward you. Too bad we don't get to have these conferences more often. We felt revived when someone from Romania came and visited our church. He sang and played the keyboard. His good voice is a gift from God but we felt overwhelmed by the fact that he was blind. He and his wife travel from place to place and sing to the glory of God. It made us ask ourselves, "we have eyes, but what do we do? We get spiritual food from our church and then instead of going to war, we simply rest." Their visit was a blessing, but also a warning. I'm still waiting to get the mission board's response about planting a new church in Smederevo. We are praying for this spiritually dead town. Smederevo is right in the middle of the country, very close to the capital city of Beograd (40 km far). It's 12 km from Kovin, the town where I minister. It has around 110,000 inhabitants but there is no evangelical church there. There is a Jehovah Witness church and also a satanic one which have few members. The predominant denomination is the Orthodox. There are a few people from Smederevo who come to our church regularly. One of them is a baptized member of our church. My family and the people would like to plant a church there, but we need your prayer support more than anything. I cannot go unprepared where there is such total darkness. We've been praying for this town for a year. Many times we went up on a tower and lifted our hands in prayer for this town. We pray that God will bring His light upon it.
