We are in the middle of the second semester of the school year and God has already blessed us very much. After the ski camp in February a few of the non-Christian students stayed in touch with us and we started Bible studies with them. I started an evangelistic group with one of the students who came to the camp through our posters and with another student whom I met at the book table last semester. We studied the Gospel of John together and talked about different things and our lives. It’s very exciting to see them understanding who Jesus is and the way of salvation in Him. One of them was very surprised to see that the “Word” in John 1 is Jesus Christ.
She seems to understand very well the biblical text and is very interested to know more about Jesus. When we talked about becoming a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ, they were shocked to see that we are not born children of God but we need to become children of God through being born again from God. The other one told us that since she met me last year she keeps meeting Evangelical Christians. She is very interested in Asia's culture and has joined a cooking class and a Korean language course with some Christians from Korea who are part of a Baptist Church very near the student dorm. Please pray for the salvation of these two students.
We also had Remember Ski Camp where we had a good discussion about suffering. We talked about Why Does God Allow Suffering and referred to the tragedy of the earthquake and the tsunami in Japan? One of the non-Christian students got involved in the discussion. She finds it difficult to understand the justice of God with His love and has many questions. She also comes regularly to the weekly meetings. Please pray for her salvation. At the moment we are addressing the themes from the Fruit of the Spirit at the weekly worship meeting for students: humility, joy, peace, long suffering, faithfulness, goodness, kindness, etc. God gave us very good speakers who challenge us to apply and exercise on a daily basis these godly characteristics in our lives. Please pray for growth in holiness in the Christian students.
I continued to meet with a young lady from my church and talk about what is “wasted faith”, reading a booklet that is very good in helping people to evaluate their faith: faith without the Spirit, faith without the truth, faith without repentance, etc. We are almost at the end of this study and I can see God guiding us to study this booklet together. It was very helpful for her understanding of the Gospel and the urgency to give her life to Jesus. She told me that it is so hard to let go. She feels she cannot do it and I told her that she needs to ask God for genuine faith and repentance. Please pray for my friend who is struggling at the crossroads of her life.
This month I went for a week with a small team to a Muslim country to visit a missionary family and see their work. It was a most blessed time for me seeing their zeal and love for the Muslim people. He has a Christian newspaper that he sends throughout the country and shares the Gospel and other things through it. He is also very much involved in the church. She is involved in different ministries such as a ministry to a few very poor families with many children who struggle for their daily bread. We sang songs, studied the Word and prayed with them. We visited their church and prayed with them. We were surprised to hear there is no vision for prayer among the national believers. The churches in this big Muslim city are also not growing because they have continuous conflicts and envy among themselves. It was very sad to hear what is going on there. Our missionary said, “God is working a lot in this country, not because of the Church, but in spite of it." One evening we had a very good visit. We visited a Muslim family where a young man spoke English. His mother asked us, “What do you do every day for your God?” And a good conversation about the Gospel was started. God doesn’t need anything from us but He is the One who gives us salvation in Jesus Christ. I was very surprised to see they were so open to hear about what Christianity has to say about God and everlasting life. We invited the young man to our youth camps in Romania and were glad to see his enthusiasm to come.
We also had a meeting with a missionary who was doing ministry among students and young people. We were glad to hear his clear vision in sharing the Gospel with the Muslim students. Praise God for the work He does in this major Muslim city. Please pray for the growth of the Church and the salvation of many Muslim people.
