At the beginning of October a new University year started and we are looking forward to seeing what the Lord will work among the students this year. I have been so encouraged to see a couple of male students becoming more serious in their walk with God, and taking leadership positions. One of them started reading very good books by Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Tozer and others. He says he grew up in the church considering that it was only the missionaries' job to share the gospel with others. But since he came to our student group, he understands that the Great Commission is for every Christian, and now he has a growing desire to tell the gospel to those around him. In our first four meetings we read several chapters from brother Charles Leiter's book Justification and Regeneration. Last winter we had been discussing about justification and last month we have been studying about regeneration (the new birth, the new heart, crucifixion and resurrection, change of realms from sin to righteousness). We are thankful to the Lord for very good discussions and for the students having open minds and hearts to understand God's word. For many of them all this is very new, as in Romania the Arminian teaching is quite strong. One girl came for the first time and then told me she was so glad she came, because she had never attended such discussions before.

As the students filled the campuses at the beginning of the month we started going on the campus with our little table with Christian literature. The first time I went the Lord encouraged me a lot by two discussions I had with two students. Both were freshmen and seemed very interested. One could not stay long, but listened as I shortly presented the gospel to him. With the second one I had a long conversation. He did not know much about the Bible or God, but told me that he had been thinking a lot about God, and had had no one to talk to about Him. He realized the futility of life as most people are living it, but did not have a right understanding about God. I gave him a New Testament and a brochure and the next week when I went there I saw him again. He told me he needed to go somewhere but he would come back to talk. He never did. This happened many times with students. We would have very good conversations and they would stay with us for a long time, but they would not be willing to meet again. I know it is the work of the devil to steal the seed and I think he does it many times through friends and family who tell them, "do not even read what they gave you! They are heretics!" Another sad thing is when many look at the the New Testaments and booklets and ask, "are they Orthodox?" And because we are evangelicals they do not want to take anything. Last time I was there talking to someone when a man passed by and said, "this is poison!" May the Lord use any conversation we had about the gospel, any New Testament, booklet or tract given to someone. May the Lord help us to reach out more to the freshmen. It is horrible how living on the campus defiles the students in less then one year. As we go on campus in the fall, the freshmen seem to have some values and principles, probably from their families, but when we go back in the spring they are so different! The older students have already dragged many of them in terrible sin. May the Lord bring a revival among the students of Romania!

A great joy for me was to see again the girls from my discipleship groups. I was greatly encouraged as one of them shared about a mission trip she took to Oltenia, a very hard part of Romania. Actually this was the second girl who went there last summer. It seems that the Lord has given her a desire for missions. She went there with her sister, who also seems to be called to missions. Please pray for the heart of their father, who doesn't agree with them going as missionaries. I am so glad to see the desire to grow in these girls. It is wonderful how the Lord has been working in them from their youth. May the Lord continue to mature them and cause them to bear much fruit for Him!

We continued our evangelistic Bible study group, and especially one evening was very blessed when the guy leading shared the gospel one again. Another time only us girls met and cooked together. I shared with them the parables we acted out in the summer camp. Our unbelieving friend listened very carefully and asked questions about the meaning of the parables. It is amazing how every time we tell her about the gospel it is like she has never heard it before! May the Lord have grace and mercy on her!
