We spent most of the time working on the social center building. We hope to start a music school for children and also have a medical office. We never expected it would take so much energy and time. It's been pretty tiresome both physically and spiritually. We are happy that God provided the wood for the roof. The work we planned for this year is almost done.
God gave us the seed of the gospel so that we can plant it in many hearts. I had a special meeting with the high school students and talked about the need of a relationship with God, starting from their "undefined" needs. The meeting took place in a restaurant and approximately 60 young people heard the gospel in a friendly company. Many of them were with us for the first time. One of the girls thanked us for going to high schools to invite people to hear such things. We were glad to hear that. Our youth befriended the new comers. Our prayer is to see fruit for the Kingdom among them.
As a church, we rejoice over the two people that added up to our church due to the testimony of our members. One of them is Cristina. She is the sister of a minister from our church and the other is Alexandra, a teenager from Varfuri. God showed us His faithfulness with both of them. They came to know Christ as a result of many prayers and Christian service and friendship. God is calling people to repentance and our church celebrates His presence among us. Just like in Psalm 50, the Lord speaks, He is not silent! When He works, His people are strengthened and they praise Him for his great miracles.
I want to share a few things about Alexandra. She is the elder of two sisters who distinguished themselves by their obedience when we started to have the programs for children in Varfuri. She is the leader type in her class and for her friends. When the ministry there seemed to be slow, she proved to be consistent and that determined the group to be consolidated. Meanwhile, they started to read the bible and to be challenged to do so for their meetings - they would have bible contests. God raised questions in her heart. She talked to her mother and she encouraged her to follow Christ even though she is not a Christian. She said she would do the same when we start the bible study with the adults. It is so wonderful to see the result of our Christian testimony in this village where we want to plant a church.
One of the days after attending the youth ministry we had, God put restlessness in her heart and that made her seek salvation (her younger sister had received Christ a few weeks before).
We don't have bible study for adults in Varfuri as of yet but the children and youth ministries are abundantly blessed. Alexandra's salvation encouraged other teenagers to have the desire to follow Christ. We also have Robert, Ancuta and Georgiana who witness in their families. We look forward to the day when we can see their parents come to Christ too. Things are so different here. Usually, it is the parents who pray for their children. But here we have a group of children and teenagers praying for the salvation of their parents. Is God going to work on their behalf? We certainly believe He is!
We had celebrated Harvest Day/ Thanksgiving this month. That was a good opportunity for the people in our church to redefine their relation with God after having heard a message from Deuteronomy 8, where God urged people to be grateful for His care and provision.
