Alex is a student from Moldova. He told me he feared the Lord. He broke up with a girl he was having promiscuous relationships with. I got to meet his roommate and share the gospel with him too. He was pretty receptive. I gave him a new testament. He started to read it but not long after he quit reading. He told me it had been the sinful pleasures that stifled his desire to read God's word.

Sorin is a also a student. Mormon people had previously visited his room. He confessed, "I really like that you didn't start talking about God just out of the blue but instead you asked us about our problems, what we faced and then you told us about God. I like what you do. I have never met people like you who want to tell the youth about God."

From the very beginning, Iulian, a student from Ardeal, seemed to be more reticent and even cynical about the message of the gospel. But, towards the end of our discussion, when I told him about God's holiness shown in the Bible and about sin and salvation through Christ, God worked in a wonderful way and Iulian became interested. He even took a new testament.

One day as I went to buy some bread, I had the opportunity to talk to the shop assistant. The economic crisis makes people very worried. This lady was worried that people no longer shop the way they used to. I told her it I was very surprised that God could still put up with us despite our wickedness. She agreed and from then on I started to share my personal testimony with her. I also told her how my wife and I had been about to divorce. Then I told her how Christ saved us. At the end she said, "my husband and I got divorced but we still live under the same roof. I am interested in watching the movie about Jesus' life, the one your wife watched. Can you please lend it to me?" I did give her the movie and we are supposed to talk about it.

When I met Liviu, he was very burdened. He had lost his job and owed a lot of money to the banks. He was very troubled and was no longer able to sleep at night. The relationship with his wife was also in jeopardy. He had no hope to find another job. I asked him if he wanted us to read the new testament together. He agreed that I could present God as the Almighty who could do even the impossible. Then we looked at Psalm 32 so that he could understand that his miserable condition was a consequence of sin in his life. As I was reading it, he said, "I can see myself here." And while I was reading, I could see God reviving his spirit. He understood that His word was true and could work in our lives. I gave him the new testament and he promised he would read it. After a while, I got to meet him again. I asked him how he was. He told me he found a job and was good.  Then I asked him whether he was still reading his new testament. He said, "I no longer have time for that, I also have to study".  That made me think about the Israelites. When they were in trouble, they would seek God, but soon after being rescued, they would always forget about Him. I prayed for Liviu to get to know God by reading the Bible. I showed him how true the Bible was and prayed that he could find a job. But now that he's got the job, he no longer finds time to read the Word and to search for God. How deceitful and ungrateful man's heart can be!  Lord, please have mercy on this young man and on ourselves.

The outreach in Sibiu

30 students showed up at the evangelistic event in the university building. The message was from John 4 about the Samaritan woman. At the end, the students had questions. One of the girls asked, "why is it that you only talk about Jesus and not about the Father?" She was orthodox. It is a known fact that the Orthodox people accuse the Protestants of talking only about Jesus. They're actually mad about that. One of the missionaries gave her a good and adequate answer according to the truth.  Two other students asked about relativism and the difference between religions. They came the next day too and I shared God's word with them. They knew about God but didn't know the meaning of Christ's death as a sacrifice for our sins. When they heard that, they no longer wanted to have anything to do with us. They don't want to hear that they are sinners.

One of the students who attended Paul Washer's conference at the university said exactly the same. When two of our students went up to tell him the Gospel, he didn't like it when he was told he was a sinner. He had never felt like that before. But when he talked to them, he felt uncomfortable.

I met Marius when we went to Sibiu. I got to talk to him as he was not sure of his salvation. He's been attending our group in Sibiu for about a year. He said he felt there is a wall of glass between him and God. After asking him a few questions, I found out he was reading books about positive thinking. He said that it helped him a lot, that whenever he wanted something, it came true.

I met three students in the dorms whose names were Victor, Cristi and Daniel. I found it a little hard to talk about God from the very beginning. They were reluctant and suspicious. Once again, the Spirit of God amazed me. We started to talk about men and women relationships and God's perspective about that. We ended up talking about sin, Christ's sacrifice and the salvation through Him.Towards the end of the discussion, Daniel seemed to be pretty edgy about the talking and he wanted to know what my denomination was. I felt it was the devil attacking me, trying to put fear in the hearts of the other two who were open. But the Lord stood beside me and gave me wisdom to answer so that I wouldn't cause Vcitor and Cristi to find a stumbling block in my words. They even said, "thank you for coming. We've never heard such things. When you first entered out room and started to talk about God, you seemed a little weird." They also took a new testament.

Later on, I found out that Daniel was from the same place like my wife and another student from our group in Sibiu. He has Christian relatives. That could explain his fierceness against us when sharing God's Word.

I continued to be involve in the church activities and with the youth, but not as much as the previous months.
