The highlight of the month of May were the HeartCry conferences in Bucharest, Elim and Barsov. They were so blessed by God that I feel I was on the mountain and now I am back in the valley. Many young people attended both the Bucharest and Brasov conferences and after talking to them I was very glad because the Lord used the preached Word in their hearts. Here are several impressions they shared after the conferences:

"The HeartCry conference made me stop and think who I really am. It showed me my state. I realized that many small things I was doing that I considered to be ok were actually displeasing to God. It strengthened me and and gave me power to go on God’s way.”

Roxana, Bucharest

“The conference was very helpful. I learned many things about spiritual warfare and God’s sovereignty. I learned about the power of Satan and how we as God’s children have the power to defeat him. Satan is a liar and we can conquer him only by knowing the truth of God from the Bible, prayers and fasting. A life lived in ignorance of God’s truths is a life lived according to the lies of Satan. ”

Dany, Bucharest

“The conference was an extraordinary blessing for me. God spoke to me and showed me wrong things in my life. I am willing to change those things that are displeasing to God.”

Diana

“I was very encouraged by the messages that I heard and by brother Paul’s service and humility. Many people attended which proves their thirst to hear the Bible truth from a man who, as far as I can see, practices what he preaches. I am challenged, as a man, to live my life closer to the One I call Lord Jesus Christ and to serve Him unconditionally. Oh, and if I want to be a father I need to learn to shoot arrows with a bow.”

Dan, Bucharest

“After this conference I realized what was wrong in my prayer life. The Lord spoke to me and showed me my selfishness that hindered my prayers to receive an answer. I was glad to hear the Gospel again, simply, but powerfully, preached. I was very encouraged by the commitment I saw in Paul Washer which increases my desire to anchor my soul in Jesus’ work.”

Andreea, Bucharest

"I am very grateful to the Lord for these conferences and for all the brothers from HeartCry who served us so much. We pray that what we have learned will bring forth fruit in our lives! I am particularly glad for one student who attended the conferences and talked to brother Paul. I think he is very influenced by the secular world views and I believe the Lord spoke to him. May He continue to work in his heart!"

“The message about the Gospel impressed me. How clearly the justice of God and the love of God were presented. I rejoiced to hear again what the Lord has done for me. I also learned how to explain the Gospel to others. I liked that the Gospel was not watered down, not even the choicest words can describe it.  Brother Don’s message on modern high places was very helpful. I found several in my life, and with the Lord’s help I am going to destroy them. I was very impressed by the way brother Conrad spoke about the cross. I wish to always be grateful to the Lord for what He has done for me.”

Beta, Brasov

“Brother Conrad’s first message was for me! It brought me to the cross in the fact that he emphasized that Christ’s suffering was not only physical, but that the wrath of God was poured on Him. It reminded me that we are to bring people to the cross, because there we find the foundation of our faith and our relationship with God.”

Marta, Brasov

I am encouraged to see Ioana, the girl who brought Bebe to our ski camp. She came last year for the first time herself. I am so glad to see the Lord's work in her! She is now thinking a lot about witnessing to her family, especially to her elderly grandmother who is very religious. Her mother keeps telling her not to change her religion. She started telling her grandmother the gospel.

The last time we went into the dorms with our small table with New Testaments, brochures and tracts, the students took almost everything we had. One student stopped and I offered him a New Testament and a brochure. I asked him whether he had read from the Bible. After he said he hadn't, I asked him what he thought about what happens after death. He said "I have no idea, maybe we will reincarnate." I asked him if he knew what the Bible said and he didn't. He seemed very interested to find out, but we had a very brief conversation because he had to catch a train. He said he would read what I gave him. Please pray for this guy (I don't even know his name, but he gave us his e-mail address).

Also, pray for a girl I met with after the HeartCry conference. After she talked with brother Paul, she called me and shared how she had had a very severe depression about two years ago and how it seems to come back. I felt so overwhelmed listening to her as I did not know how to help her. I am now praying to see if the Lord wants us to meet together. I am also praying about the best option as to whether the two of us should meet or we should meet with another friend. I need a lot of wisdom and guidance from the Lord to know how to help her. Please pray that the Lord would intervene and heal her.

I am so encouraged that Bebe continues coming to our evangelistic Bible study group. In our last meeting we studied from John 9 and had a very good discussion. We talked about the different responses to Jesus (the neighbors, the Pharisees, the parents, and the former blind man) and the miracle He did. We talked about the cost of following Jesus and that only the blind man was ready to pay. What amazes me is that even though we have been talking about the gospel a lot, almost in each meeting, at the end of the study, she asked something like, "what does it mean to repent? And why is repentance necessary?" as if she had never heard those things. This reminded me of the verses in 2 Corinthians 4:3, 4 that say "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." We pray that the Lord will take the veil away and bring her to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
