Florin is a student in Brasov. He had talked to one of our Christian students. Then I got to meet him  during our project with the medical team. He came to see the dentist and I shared the gospel with him two days in a row. This is what Florin shared with me,

"Alex I feel so dirty. Up to December 2009, I've had three girl friends at the same time. During this time, I had several night stands with other girls. I feel just as used as toilet paper. I am sick of this life. I no longer want to live this way. I feel like such a sinner!" I cannot tell how much I wanted to meet someone that felt the burden of a sinful life like he did. This has been my team's and my own prayer during this school year. Lord, make these students feel the burden and the repulsiveness of their sins!

It is a surprise to see how specifically God answered this prayer. The very first step to turn to Christ is for people to admit their sins and feel an aversion to them. It happened exactly the same with myself when Jesus saved me. It is the supernatural work of God when people understand their miserable condition and ask for His mercy and forgiveness.

I shared all these things with Florin. His heart was deeply touched. At the end, I prayed for him and then he headed to the dorm. While he was walking to the dorm, a miracle took place. This is what Florin told me. "After what you had told me about God, I felt so miserable. While I was walking to the dorm, I was praying and asking God to forgive me. At a given moment, I felt as if something came out of me. I got scared. I kept asking myself what it had been. I think it's been a demon. Right after that, I felt different, clean and peaceful. A few days later, I got mad at somebody and called him a fool. But when I said this word, I felt really bad. I took the New Testament and read something and then I asked God to forgive me. I had never felt like that before when calling somebody a fool. But now, I cannot stand to hear my colleagues swearing. Once, they were reading a newspaper telling about what evil some young people from Poland had done. They said they would do the same. Then I told them that it would be a sin. When they heard me saying that, they asked me what had happened to me, they said I was different. I used to do all those things. When they saw me read the Bible, they shouted and called a satanist. One of them, stood up on a chair and started to read from the Bible. Wherever there was the phrase "in the name of Lord Jesus, he would replace His name with the devil's. Lord, forgive this young man's sin and his friends'.

I started a Bible study with Florin. He even started to come to our church. His father is an alcoholic and his brother does a lot of bad things. His mother has a hard life because of her alcoholic husband. Let's keep Florin and his family in our prayers. The Bible says, the one who is forgiven a lot, loves a lot.

At the end of May, we had an evangelistic project with a medical team. Together with the team from the States, we also had a Romanian doctor, Emanuela. She studied Medicine in Craiova and was involved in the campus ministry here in Brasov. Her husband, Silviu, got to know Christ through the campus ministry. Emanuela was happy to work with the American team. They stayed at our place and we all had a blessed time together.

I had previously prayed for an opportunity to do some humanitarian work for the students. Last year I wanted to open a drug store for them, this way they would have been offered free medicine. But we couldn't make this happen. Eventually, God blessed us with this wonderful medical project. I am amazed at how God answered this prayer. This project has been exactly what we lacked to dispel the students' prejudices and suspicions.  I have faced many disappointments during the school year but God performed a miracle towards the end of the second semester. The non-Christian students were very surprised to see that people living miles away came to help us for free. Students such as Vali, Mariana, Roxana, Magda, Catalina and many others heard the gospel while they were waiting to see the doctor. We found it easy and natural to tell them the gospel. Praise the Lord! We had an evangelistic night at the end of the project.

Before the medical project, we had seminary with Paul Washer for our students from Bacau, Sibiu and Brasov. Others that used to work with us came to. They all felt motivated and spiritually edified. My soul praises the Lord.

Together with Ionut we went to the student dorms. There we met Stefan who studied Law. After hearing the gospel, he said, "why don' t you organize meetings in the dorm? It is important for other students to hear what you have just told me!" It is indeed what we want, but when we invited Stefan to our meetings, he never showed up.

S is a student that studies Sylvi culture. While we were talking, we found out his grandfathers were Adventists. He visited the church on a few occasions and he liked it. He never read the Bible. He used to enjoy going to the Orthodox church but the priest rebuked him once. His room mate was a businessman. During our first visit he tried to intimidate my colleague. S came to our weekly meetings. We scheduled a second meeting but he no longer showed up. We noticed he was somehow avoiding us.

One time we went to the dorms and wandered around for about an hour. We could find no one to talk to. The students were either out or watching movies or not interested. Eventually, we ran into Florin who was in the hallway. He was nice and agreed to talk. He told us he had seen some documentaries on the TV that said Jesus had been married and he was not God. He said he didn't believe all that. We decided to get together again and he came. He listened to us carefully. On my way home I was thinking what extraordinary news Florin and the others had heard and yet they did not repent before the Lord. So many people take this great message for granted.

Although I continued to work with the youth in our church, it was not as much as the previous months.
