The month of September was an intense month of study at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am taking six classes to graduate at the end of this semester. The exposure to the good teaching is a great blessing from God. My prayer is that the training that I take in the master's program will find good soil as I prepare to return to Romania.
The classes that I take are extremely helpful in developing skills in studying God's Word. Among the classes that I have this semester, I am taking a class in preaching. I have preached twice on campus in English language and although I have often had opportunities in Europe to travel and preach in English, it has still been challenging for me. The interaction with a number of theologians and scholars who teach at Southern Seminary has been a tremendous blessing for me. Some of them have been to Romania and others have promised to honor my invitation to come and teach. This relationship with the professors from Southern Seminary has made it possible to expose our missionaries in Romania to good training. A source of great blessing has been the study of the book of James in Greek exegesis class. I have learned to approach a book in the Bible by using all the tools provided by knowing the language in which the Bible was originally written. It was a model to me to continue to study other books in the Bible like that when I preach in the future. The study of church history and the interaction in some fundamental texts has been a good exercise in receiving some insight in the first Christian writings. The study of Christian apologetics in Philosophy class continues to be a challenge for me in developing skills in defending the Gospel. A project that I worked on is a research on Ibegan with the purpose of writing a book. It is going to be a critical approach to the dogma and practice of the Eastern Orthodox Church that will be vital for my country. We do not have any book that presents from an evangelical perspective what is wrong with the dogma of the Eastern Orthodox Church. This will be a good tool for believers to understand the essence of the Gospel. It will also be helpful in proclaiming and defending the truth. I continue to stay in touch with our missionaries in Eastern Europe. We have various ways of contacting each other such as email, phone, Skype, and Messenger. I keep in touch with them to know what is going on in their areas of ministry. The second weekend I travelled to Paducah for a special training session with a choir that is traveling to Romania in October. Lord's willing, I will be joining the choir for the concert tour in Romania. I appreciate your prayer and financial support for us and the ministries in Eastern Europe. The Lord has blessed us through you immensely. We pray that God will greatly reward your love and support for us.
