With the youth of the church we got involved in the Vacation Bible school in villages of Vulcana and Magura. The VBS in Vulcana lasted 3 days. Around 30 children came. They learned things like the people are lost without Jesus (the story of the lame brought to Jesus by his 4 friends) and that people will die in their sins without Jesus. He is the Life and the Resurrection (the resurrection of Jairus' daughter). We taught them how the Lord Jesus is the only one who can deliver us from our sins (The ten lepers' healing). This year there were children who never attended such events. The policeman's son came in the first day. The second and the third day he came with his sister too. He was one of the most active children. Last year the policeman asked some members of our team, "Why are you doing such things in my village?". Who do you think my son was the most touched child at the end of the VBS? He even decided to get involved in the orchestra that we planned to start in this village. We know that the Lord talked to these children. Many of them had the opportunity to meditate upon their need for a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. May God help them not to waste this opportunity. It was a blessing for the team too, not just for the children. Each of them had their responsibilities and they were glad to be useful. They taught the Bible lessons, played sketches, organized the games, taught the missionary story, prepared snacks, and were on the jury. I praise the Lord because they were hard-working people. Nine people were on the team that I worked with. Some of them hadn't worked with the children before, but this time they felt prompted to get involved in the children ministry of the church for long term. We had almost the same VBS program in Magura village. We had only around 18-20 children. Some of them were new children. Our joy is that new people heard the Gospel. In both villages our project will continue to the children's families. The children will receive their Bibles at home. We will thank their parents for allowing their children to come to the VBS. We will try to share the Gospel with those that are open and invite them to join the believers group for studying the Bible which is able to save their souls (James 1:21). On August 10-20 we will visit the children's families both in Vulcana and Magura. We have had several discussions with the parents of the children who came to the VBS in Pucioasa village. Many of them were glad and promised to visit our church. After these visits we have had seven new children who attend regularly the children program. They come because we met their parents. We pray that the Lord will win this battle. The Lord guided us in the children ministry this summer. It is different then the last years. We saw that the Lord guided us toward new families and new children. We see the long-expected refreshening of this ministry. We praise God for this. The church was involved in this ministry as the people prayed, gave money, invited people, and played host to the children. The orchestra was again an encouragement and a help in the Lord's ministry by serving in the church in Covasna on the occasion of the baptismal service. This event is a part of the encouragement ministry that we had started. Our young people grow spiritually and bring joy to the believers' hearts from other churches. Some of the members of our church who were gone to work abroad returned to Romania for a short time. It was a new opportunity for fellowship meetings. Our last meetings were like real family gatherings. Recently a 45-50 year old man asked me for a Bible. I offered him the possibility to receive one through the "Philip" project. He was willing to fill out all the studies. He received a Bible and started to come to church. His name is Cornel. He needs support in prayer. He smokes a lot and his wife left him. May God open his heart to receive salvation. Our flock faced some trials too. One of the ladies from the church took a beating from her husband because she follows the Lord. He broke two of her teeth. Another lady is carrying the burden of a husband who curses the Lord. Satan tried to stop some of the young people from our church in getting involved in the VBS through their non-Christian parents. We faced all these problems, but continue to seek the Lord's help and mercy.
