As you know we usually memorize Bible verses with the children and make crafts. Some of the people did not show up so we worked with those who came. The ones who learned the verses by heart received a little present. They were very excited. It is really a miracle to see these children who did not know how to pray now enjoying it. We pray to be able to help them in every way we can so that they know the truth.
We were visited by a missionary who had been in Egypt for five years and wanted to stay there two more. He shared with us about the war there. Many people left but after the things calmed down a little, all the missionaries came back. He told us that some people were receptive and even received a New Testament. They asked him why he was doing good works and he said he did that because He served a great God.
I sometimes think to myself what it would take for our country to believe the truth. By reading the Old Testament we can see that the Jews had everything but their sins separated them from God. Moldova is considered to be a Christian country but people here live very sinful lives. Only God can change the hearts of the people.
When we have the youth meetings, we usually share personal experiences and testimonies so that we can get to know each other better.
The ladies from our church and I had the opportunity to attend a conference for women in Chisinau. We studied the book of Nehemiah. Before the conference I met someone who was a missionary. I was taught how God gave vision, opened doors and provided the necessary financial support. The conference taught me many things. Nehemiah was totally dependent on God. When he heard what happened to the walls of the city of Jerusalem, he did not ask for anything, but he prayed and fasted for four months and then went back to the King. Nehemiah was a man of prayer, faith and vision. He was also patient and honest. After the conference a lady said she had never thought Nehemiah could be a book for women.
We continue our ladies meetings where we learn from the Word. This month we studied about Moses' mother. She was a wise woman who feared God. We learned how to be mothers that pleased God nowadays. It was not easy back then either. And many people these days doubt they could raise children,
We had the opportunity to attend a premarital counseling conference. The following themes were the purpose of marriage, the biblical basis of marriage, spiritual growth, the husband's and wife's role in the family, communication, forgiveness, money, raising children, and intimate relationships. The session I liked best was about forgiveness. I understood I had to learn many other things about this aspect of the Christian life. It was as if I found something I had long looked for and I understood that my problem was myself. I needed to forgive people like Jesus did. It is awesome when you receive a clear understanding of certain things. I came before the Lord just like Moses and Nehemiah and God answered my prayers through this conference. Now I have to live what I learned. After the conference, I changed my attitude towards my father, talked to him in a different manner and I forgave him. I want the Word of God to change my life so that other people would see Him in me. It is a sacrifice but it is worth it because life is short and we do not live for ourselves but for what God wants to do through us if we obey Him.
