We had VBS at our church and around 100 kids came. In the morning we would have a Bible lesson, sport contest, games, songs and crafts. During the week, we had teen meetings in the evenings and had around 42 attend. They enjoyed the program, the games, but most importantly, they heard the Gospel. Each of them got a Bible or a New Testament. They were supposed to look up specific verses related to our topic. Most of the teenagers held a Bible for the first time in their lives.
We had to show them how to look up the verses. We were very happy to see them so excited whenever they read the verses. We pray that God will work in the hearts of these teenagers and that His Word will bear fruit. After the VBS, we have continued our teenager meetings every Thursday. We have less people coming now but we pray that more will join in.
We continued to study John Piper's book "For Your Joy" with a family. We talked about this book. We are going to start another Bible study with them and study the Gospel of John. The members of this family are very close to God and we're always welcome there. One of the people we talked to has HIV which makes her think of life after death. We had very good discussions with her but she had to leave for Moscow to work there. We won't be able to stay in touch for a while. Both her and her mother indicated that they received Christ in their lives when we had an evangelistic service. I think they were both sincere because it's been a few months since we started visiting them and I have noticed their desire to know the Lord.
In my previous report I mentioned about an evangelistic event we were going to have. On this occasion, we got in touch with people that had visited at the beginning of the summer, sending them letters of invitation. We enjoyed the powerful message of our guest speaker and the wonderful songs. At the end of the sermon, the preacher urged the audience to give their lives to Christ. Six people accepted Christ. I know some of them and we hope to get to know the others better and see them come to church.
This month ended with a retreat for the missionary families. It was a wonderful time of rest and spiritual edification. God blessed us with an extraordinary time and many profitable lessons.
