We've had several major events this month. On May 1, we had a Bible contest for the youth from several churches. This was the second Bible contest we have had and I am happy to see the Word planted in the hearts of the new generations.
On May 7-8, we and the youth from the Baptist churches in the southern part of the country had a prayer and fasting weekend. It was a new experience for the approximately 30 young people that attended. My and the other people's desire was to see a revival of holy lives among the young people. I only wanted those interested in prayer to come. God poured down His grace on us.
Some people confessed they had never fasted before. But they were now touched in their hearts and saw fasting as a blessing. Maia, a young lady who was one of the youth leaders, was touched in her heart. She was encouraged to trust God more and spend more time in prayer so that she would be more effective in the ministry. A 18-year old young man, Jacob, didn't exactly know what this weekend was about. When he heard we were going to spend two days in fasting and prayer, he wanted to go back. But God touched his heart too and he eventually confessed he had made the best decision to stay.
We spent the weekend somewhere close to Cahul. Later on that night, we all went to see the whole town from highest peak we could find. We took time to pray and make intercession for all the people living in Cahul. One hour of prayer felt like five minutes. We don't know what's in store for our town or our country, but we do know what's in our hearts. I felt challenged to pray as if it had been the first time. I had been a little disappointed at the beginning to see so few people willing to fast and pray, but I understood that God could give great victories using a few but devoted people. We decided to have prayer weekends more often. I pray that God will keep the desire to pray in those who attended the prayer and fasting weekend so that they can influence others as well.
On May 14, we had some guests from Romania who came to our church to challenge the youth with missions. We had around 40 young people. They heard testimonies and prayers for more young people to live holy lives dedicated to missions. Some of our young people asked questions and thanked our guests for what they were doing. We realized that it was worth not growing weary of bringing challenges to the youth.
Every Sunday evening we go out with the youth from our church. It is an important time to make friends with those who only visit our church or are in some kind of relationship with our youth. I always have something from the Scripture on these occasions and we have a prayer time.
Regarding the counseling ministry, I helped another young man, Vasile (19 years old), besides the ones I get together with on a regular basis. Although this young man grew up in a Christian environment, he's been through many things and unhappy events. The first thing we did was talk about his sinful life. He opened his heart and confessed his sins and then we prayed and looked at some Scriptures talking about what God wanted for his life. I am still praying for him and asking God to guide me so I can help him on. Cornel, the student I've been helping for a while, is in the growing process so he can overcome certain barriers in his life. I pray that God will give him light to live according to His will.
We preach the gospel whenever we have the opportunity. On Tuesdays we go out and do street evangelism. We always have interesting experiences. This month we managed to give out 120 tracts and share the gospel with 30 people. Many times I found it a little difficult as I am not sure the people understand the message of the Gospel. But I pray that God will use my words.
I got to meet a gentleman who was available to talk. He told me he had had an accident that made him realize that God protected him. Some Christians visited him while he was in the hospital and he heard the Gospel on several occasions. While I was talking to him, he said he didn't know what was keeping him from becoming a Christian. He agreed with all that he had to do but was not ready. I am praying for Mihai to be convicted in his heart by God. I am glad I have his phone number and can keep in touch with him.
