On April 10 we and four other evangelistic communities organized an event called Christ has Risen. It was meant to proclaim and exalt Christ. The event brought us together and we felt united just like Jesus had prayed for us to be one in Him. Christ's name was proclaimed as the living God forever and ever.
On April 18 we started the ministry for the families. There are 15 families involved and the meetings will take place on Sunday evenings for seven weeks. Ten families are from Emanuel Church, while two other families are open but not entirely dedicated. Although the husbands are not dedicated to the Lord, they still came with their wives. Another family is represented by Lucian and Sfetlana. They grew up in our church but are now involved in ministry in another village.
They wanted to be part of this project so that they could do the same in their village. Another family works with New Lives. We're 15 families. Two families are supposed to bring food every time. One or two ladies that are not part of this project stay with the children and bring in the food. Each couple is supposed to sit at one table where they have to do certain tests together. It's interesting to see them all talking and being happy for each step they take. We called this project Focus on the Family.
I visited an Orthodox family. The husband is in his last phase of cancer. It's not easy to talk to someone who is likely to die any minute. But God gave me grace to just read about Jesus when he healed a woman. I also read Psalm 23. A few days later I printed this psalm on a bigger piece of paper and gave it to him so that he could put it on the wall and read it whenever he wanted. I also gave him a Bible where I had highlighted the passages where it talked about Jesus healing different people. We eventually came to the topic of the will of God even though we pray for healing, it was more important for the will of God to be done. I encouraged them to repent and cry out for help. Before going to their place, I called three more people and asked them to support me in their prayers. During the Easter break, I got to visit Viorel, a 19-year old young man. He is deaf and dumb. I equipped him so he could disciple his school mates by speaking their language.
Our church is going to be 10 years old this year. Lord willing, we want to write a brief history of how God has led and provided for us during these years. Five people are working on this project.
Every Tuesday night we go out on the streets and give tracts to people and tell them the Gospel. Every time we get to meet 80-120 people with whom we share the Gospel verbally with more than 50 of them every week. That means around 400 people a month get a tract and 200 of them hear the Gospel.
Five to seven people are counseled every month during several sessions. Some of them are strengthened in their faith and equipped to make disciples. This is the situation of Natasa P. who became a Christian in our church in 2001, She is now able to lead others to Christ and disciple them.
Ruslan G. has been trained all these years and now leads and disciples others. He lead a Bible study group of six people each Tuesday at his place. After being trained in leading Bible studies, Veronica now helps with the computer ministry and Bible studies. Ana came to know the Lord through the computer ministry. She was trained a few months ago and is currently working with a 20-year old young lady.
