Grace Reformed Baptist Church (GRBC) UPDATE – JULY 2010
Greetings in the Lord’s Name; I write once again to share the Lord’s dealings with us here at Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Windhoek. The Lord has done for us more abundantly than we deserve. He did it for His own glory and we must tell it.
A Song of Ascents. When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad. Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negeb! Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. (Psa 126:1-6 ESV)
Last Lord’s day the Lord was pleased to give us a convert at our Havana preaching point, the first one since we began our outreach there in January this year. This was a former police lady and she was immediately willing to come over and attend our morning service that same day. Join us in praising the Lord.
This Saturday, 17th July, the Lord graciously gave us an opportunity to fete the Ubabalo Ministry. This is a ministry one of our members is involved in. Brother K. has about 20 young men that he is coaching in soccer and preaches to them after every training session. Today 14 of them came to our manse for a tea party and we preached to them. It was great opportunity to have that age group so freely available for the gospel - especially in Namibia. They listened and asked some questions.
Next week we are going for our second visit to the HERERO MALL (a focal point of immorality and violence in the city). We had some church visitors as a result of our last visit. This time we are planning a free barbecue in order to attract more people to attend our preaching point. Pray for us that this may be a success. Remember what I shared last time; we are the first to walk in that place with the gospel. This was a daring move that shocked some patrons.
Pray also for a similar area called Greenwell Matongo (a kind of squatter settlement), which is bigger than the Herero Mall. A brother named Godwin M. meets with 14 or so young people on weekly basis, a good number of whom come to church now. Last week a visit by two of our members drew a large number of children, and plans are underway to start bible club there.
We are in our last phase of the harvest period. We postponed last month due to soccer. This will be our first Sunday after resumption. It will end on 25th July. Pray with us that the Lord will give us some souls from this effort.
Kind regards,
Kapambwe
