Macedonian Calls As a church we have had two requests from two shanty townships to set up preaching points. The first town is Havana. They made a request in January and another this month. Another call has now come from ‘Eighth Avenue’. We have just distributed the responsibilities within the interim leadership. Brother Japhet K. will take up Havana and Brother Godwin M. will take up ‘Eighth Avenue’. Both are excited about their preaching points. Additionally, yesterday I got an encouraging report by phone from Immanuel K. concerning the Botswana Border preaching point. He says the Easter Sunday attendance overwhelmed him. Pray for him.
Preaching Ministry I have not preached at GRBC for the last three Sundays. On the 21st, Brother Phil H. took both services. On the 28th, I was at Westside Baptist Church. During Easter, we had joint services with Eastside Baptist Church at which I preached Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The whole time has been most refreshing to my ministry.
Accommodation After a long search, a beautiful 4 bed-roomed house was found very near our meeting place, and quite central to the members of the church. It is in an area called Khomasdal. The cost is around K 4.2 million, Kwacha equivalent, which includes power and water. It has two quest wings, each of which is rented to different tenants. In fact, one of the two bathrooms of the main house does not belong to us but to one of the quest wings. (It is fine considering that a one bedroom flat, including the guest wings behind, cost about K 2m). I am just now learning how to cope with the scanty dressing by ladies coming out of the bathroom. At the moment the house is bare. Some of the brethren used their accounts to get a fridge and bed on credit. We are thankful the house has built-in stove. A settling-in allowance would help me get basic house and office furnishing. Thanks to the ladies of the church who took care of the eleven windows by lending me decent curtains. This saved me from my plan to use newspaper. Induction Service This is planned for the 18th April. All who are able to come are welcome. Lodging will be provided.
Outstanding issues for prayer
- The medical aid issue still needs to be settled. I am hoping it will be sorted out before my family moves here.
- That my family would be able to join me soon.
- That house/office furniture would be provided.
