Dear Praying Friends,

Once again we are in a thanksgiving mood as we reflect on the goodness of the Lord to us at Grace Baptist Church. On Saturday 1-5-2010, a congregation of about 150 people gathered to witness the opening of the new church building. Pastor Sukesh from Kawangware, Nairobi and Naphtally of Eldoret church officiated. The atmosphere was lovely and filled with thanksgiving.  The program began with hearty singing by the congregation. The church ladies formed a wonderful choir thanking God for his goodness in not only in providing the Son for our salvation but also in his general faithfulness in all that we need for life and service to him.

Pastor Paul read us Psalm 84 which reminded us of how good it is to dwell in the house of the Lord where even the most neglected sparrows and swallows find shelter. This was followed by reading the history of GBC since it started. The reading reminded us of how faithful God has been to us over the years. Prayers of dedication were offered by Sukesh and Naphtallly. The preaching was wonderfully done by Sukesh from 1 Corinthians 3:11, which reminded the members of their responsibilities and also encouraged those within to seek Christ who is the true foundation of our faith. Lastly, we ate food courtesy of the church members. In fact, the 12 baskets that remained were enough to serve lunch to the church on Sunday the following day before the Lord’s Table and still some remained for people to take home! What a day it was! Pray for the success of the gospel message that was presented and for the growth of the church. May it be a spiritual birth place for many in future.

Please do pray with us for the following:

  1. That the word of God may dwell in us richly as it is ministered in this ‘temple.’
  2. There is great confusion in churches regarding our church. Tricks are used on people by ‘ministers’ and generally the public is very wary about churches. Within a radius of 200 hundred meters of our church there are 10 Charismatic churches and two SDAs . Pray that the presence of GBC in this arena will bring a difference.
  3. Pray for the church plant in Oyugis town. The issue of a meeting place is becoming harder by the day. Pray for the provision of a more permanent and long-term meeting place.
