"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love the God, to those who are called according to His purposes."

These words of the apostle Paul are a fitting summary of how the Lord has dealt with us as a family and church until now. We have often stopped and marvelled, "Can the Lord be so good?!" We would like to first of all ask forgiveness for having taken so long before sending out our regular Prayer Letters. For those who regularly look forward to receiving and praying for us, we are very sorry for this long delay. We think we are just about back to routine of things!

UK Trip: Naphtally and Tim managed to secure their UK Visas well in time. They were able to fly to UK on 21st August. They spent the first weekend with Hope Baptist Church in East Ham London. They then travelled to Bridgend and spent one week renewing fellowship with Brethren there and shopping for Tim's College needs. 5 years ago we stayed as a family in Bridgend while Naphtally studied at Bryntirion (WEST). On 1st September, both travelled to Atlantic College in Llantwit Major, South Wales, which is about 9 Miles from Bridgend. It is an international college offering a two year International Baccalaureate (IB), which is a competitive University qualification. There are 350 students from over 70 different countries around the world. We are thankful to the Lord that Tim has quickly settled and thoroughly enjoying his studies and life at the College. Tim is also well cared for spiritually by our former church in Bridgend called "Freeschool Court Evangelical Church." He plans to write regular updates while at college. If you would like to receive these for your continued prayers please do let us know. Naphtally took the remaining time to visit some churches where he preached and gave reports of the work in Eldoret. It is sadly regretted that due to time constraint he was not able to visit all the churches who have close interest in the work. We send our genuine apologies for this.

Church under trial: "Naphtally is travelling to the UK with his son Tim. Tim is taking up a scholarship he won...for a sixth form College in Wales...The question in my mind is, "who is sufficient for these things?", and the Bible answer is straightforward - "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness", "Cast your care upon Him, because He cares for you"!

These are words quoted from David Anderson's Family News of August 2009. He is Naphtally's fellow elder. Well, David was to practically experience God's sufficient grace and power immediately upon Naphtally's departure. The first Lord's Day while David was handling the ministries alone someone broke into his house and robbed him of his laptops, backups and other electronic equipment and cash! This was by all standards an ugly incident as the suspect was someone in the membership! The Lord certainly was in control. A neighbour spoted the man and, upon investigation, he went underground for about three days. He was finally apprehended and produced the goods minus the cash and one mobile! The young man pleaded guilty and is now serving one year sentence. This, as you would think, brought upon our young church a lot of pastoral challenges. Pray for the Anderson family that they will quickly recover from the trauma.

Conversions: With the challenges our church has just gone through the words of Luke in Acts 5:11ff have proved true: "Great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things...and believers were increasingly added to the Lord, both men and women". Since the burglary took place, the Lord has been pleased to savingly reveal Himself to three in the congregation (Charles and his wife Maurine and Alfonse) and Edith (Alfonse's wife). She had been in a backslidden state has returned to the Lord! The church has had to learn in a very practical way the sinfulness of sin, which we have taught and preached before. There is a seriousness among many. However, there are some who sadly are taking much longer to learn to hate sin and love the Lord who saved them. We have another three who also have professed faith in the recent past and would like to join the membership. We are in the process of talking with and instructing them towards their need to join the membership. Pray for us that the Lord may grant us much wisdom as we take these very important steps.

1st Anniversary: When it reaches November the 1st we will be one year old as a constituted local church! We look back with thanksgiving to the Lord for His many mercies upon us. We are planning to have a thanksgiving service on 14th November. We want to use the occasion as an evangelistic opportunity. So we encouraged our members to invite their friends, colleagues and neighbours. We also plan to invite representatives of our sister churches. God willing, Sukesh P. will come from Nairobi to preach. Apart from being an able evangelistic preacher, Sukesh was born in Eldoret and lived in our immediate West Indies Estate! Please pray for us in this regard.

Pastors' Fraternal: At the end of August Naphtally joined other church leaders from Western Kenya who met in Kisumu for a time of learning and fellowship. A few of our brethren were not able to attend due to some pressing matters. Graham J. organized the Fraternal.

Thank you for your participation with us in the work of the Lord in Eldoret.

Yours In Christ,

Naphtally & Helida O.
