CHACHACHA CHAPEL
MARCH REPORT TWO 2009
02ND APRIL 2009

Here are some of the activities I did during the last half of March:

From 16th March to 27th March, I was teaching at our local Bible school. This comprises of all the chapels in Kitwe . We take a two week module for each course and this time I was teaching systematic theology. Our focus this time was anthropology and sin. The class started meeting at church, but in the second week, we moved to my home for logistical reasons.

The class came to appreciate the fact that man knows much about his surroundings, but he does not know himself. This leads to a wrong response to the environment in which man finds himself. The class struggled with the origin of each individual soul, but acknowledged that sin has a devastating effect upon the soul. At the end of the course, the class resolved to learn more about the other branches of systematic theology.

21st March – We met as the men of the Church for men’s fellowship. Before the meeting started, I went to pick up one man whom I wanted to attend this meeting. He graciously came. A number of men had come and the subject was on how men can work with the pastor. After the presentation, men asked a number of questions. We all agreed that men should rise to the challenge and the Lord’s work because once they fail women will do work of men in the Church. I escorted my invitee back home and he appreciated having come.

22nd March – This Lord’s Day we begun with a prayer meeting and then broke up into various groups. We proceeded into the main service. Many people came and the Church building was full to capacity. I continued preaching from the book of Hosea. We looked at the theme, ‘Sin does not satisfy.’ Sin promises happiness, but it brings emptiness and misery.

After the service, we asked couples to invite youths to their homes for lunch since this was a youth Sunday. From lunch, we went straight for the evening service. My colleague was looking at the role of prayer in revival.

26th March – I got a report that one of our members was sick in hospital. I rushed there to see her. I found that she had severe malaria and she was in great pain. The woman married recently, but she has been in and out of hospital. The young couple seems to be struggling because of this. She told me how she was feeling. I encouraged her briefly and prayed with her.

27th March – I went back at the hospital to see the same woman. This time around, she was bright and no longer in danger. The doctor had decided to do a thorough investigation upon her.

28th March – We had a couples’ seminar. They asked me to look at the ideal couple and a nagging wife. The morning session was on the ideal wife and had a lot of participation. We looked at intimacy in marriage. The afternoon session was more challenging as we looked at the causes of nagging. All the women were quiet, but the men were having a field day.

29th March – This was a guest service Sunday, but many people came late. I had asked one of our men to preach. There were few visitors, who had come. The challenge that came to us was obedience is better than sacrifice.

After the service, the couples were taking Sunday school children for lunch in their homes. One of our house groups made a presentation during the evening service.

30th March – I went around following up the men, who had come for our outing. I visited four homes, but only managed to find two at their homes. One of the men does not attend any Church. I took time to invite him to come to Church. He graciously accepted. The other man attends a Pentecostal Assemblies Church . We discussed at length and encouraged him to search more into the scriptures.

31st March – I went to see my patient in hospital. I found that the doctors had done all their investigations and results were coming after one week. The woman insisted that she go home and wait for the results there. The doctor conceded and when I went there I took her to her home.

PRAYER REQUESTS

1.    We thank God for a number of new people who have been coming to Church.
2.    We thank God for the measure of security at Church now.
3.    Pray for the woman who has been sick. Pray for the husband so that he may stand by his wife during this trying moment.
4.    Continue to pray for many of our members, who have lost employment.
