KAFUE REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH
THE BI-WEEKLY REPORT FOR 10 - 23 MARCH, 2008
Thank God, these last two weeks have been full of activities, which we trust will help bring some to a saving knowledge of the Lord. Sadly, our Sunday services have seen a slump in attendance, but this has slowly begun to change. Please pray for us in this regard.
In the week, 10 – 16 March, I had an opportunity to speak to a young man, a member of our church, who has not been wise in issues related to money. This was a follow-up to some discussions I had with him in the past. He borrowed money from several members of the church, and when it was time to pay back he began to avoid the people that he owed money. After some months of counseling, and after threatening to sell part of his property to recover the money, on this day, March 10, he brought all the money owed. Thankfully throughout the process he has been very co-operative and consistent at church. On Youth Day, 12 March, our youth, ten in number, came together for a time to play some indoor games and for Bible study. Thankfully, some of them have begun to show signs of a work of grace upon their lives. I occasionally give each of them booklets to read. Most of them have been enthusiastic about reading these booklets and are able to recount the lessons to their friends. Pray that this literature might be of spiritual help to them. It was interesting to hear one of them talk about the character Christian in Pilgrims Progress, about how he met Evangelist who told him how he may be helped to have his burden rolled away from his back, how he went through a lot of suffering, and how at one time he even lost the scroll. I could really see the boy had certainly read the book. We also had a leaders meeting on 13 March, to finalize issues for the AGM. One of the things I was reminded to do at the AGM by the leaders was to tell the members the vision of the leadership at this meeting, so that we all move together. We have drawn this from John 20:21. After the leaders meeting I spent some time preparing the reports for the AGM. The AGM, held on 15 March, was well attended. We adopted the church calendar proposed by the leadership upon adding a few new activities. According to this calendar, for example, on 12 April we shall have a public book table, sell books, and give out tracts and any free literature at a chosen spot in town from 10:00hrs to 16:00hrs. During the AGM, one of our members emphatically said “we should do the same during the district agriculture showâ€Â. This was unanimously agreed. A committee has already been put in place to that end. The man who made this proposal, is in the District committee. The week beginning 17 March we concentrated on preparations for Easter. This involved preparing two tracts titled “God’s Free Grace†and “Jesus Lifted Up as Moses Lifted Up the Serpentâ€Â. This was done together with the invitation slips. In the midst of all this I took time to have an evangelistic Bible study with a young man. I have been studying Ephesians 2: 1 – 10 with him. I leave him with questions each time and thankfully he always answers the questions, then we discuss together. He has yet to be at church. Pray for his salvation through these studies. I also took time later on to speak to a young lady as a follow-up, upon request from the KBC eldership. We concluded our discussion on a rather sad note with her saying “I am not sure whether I am a Christian or not. I don’t feel any guilt for staying away from KBCâ€Â. I am yet to see her again. 7.   On Thursday and Friday, during the Easter Week, I had preaching tasks at three cell groups of KBC: University Teaching Hospital, Kabwata and Avodale. It was encouraging to see a number of visitors at these meetings. 8.   Back in Kafue we distributed the Easter tracts both in Estates and in Kafue Town. Commenting on the exercise in Estates, one of our members said, “we should do this in Estates once again as the people seemed to readily accept the tracts unlike the people downtownâ€Â. All this culminated in a Guest Service on 23 March, with another pastor as the Guest Speaker. We had a few people visiting; pray for follow-ups and the salvation of all who heard the gospel.
AMEN
