REPORT FROM KAFUE REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH

BI-WEEKLY REPORT - 24TH NOVEMBER TO 7TH DECEMBER, 2008

Thank you for your prayers, may this latest report from Kafue spur you to pray further for the work here.

The Week Beginning 24th November, 2008

In the morning of 25th November, I was finalizing the accounts
for the Preachers College, in view of the faculty meeting. These needed to be sent to the faculty members before the meeting. In the afternoon, I visited the offices, at Railway Systems of Zambia, to talk to a Mr K.. He has been consistent at church for about a year now. I probed him to find out if he had now understood the gospel, to which he agreed. Later asked him if he had professed faith in Christ, he shook his head. He urged him to do this today, which he promised he would do. Please pray for this man, that he will not be guilt of procrastination.

Later I turned to his work mate, a Mr N., who had also been to church a couple of times, but had lately been irregular. He is yet to be clear about the gospel, and has since begun to attend a Pentecostal church. I plan to visit him still. Later I gave our church brochure to another workmate; I was meeting for the first time, together with our monthly church bulletin. This man agreed to visit us at church. I am yet to see him again and still urge him to come to church on Sunday, especially in view of the Christmas period.

In the evening, among the people, I visited was a Mrs S. (from Congo), who has not been at church for some weeks now. Her husband is Moslem, but allows her to come to church. Their baby has been unwell, hence her husband. I spent time encouraging her. I also found the mother to this lady, who has just run away from the fighting in the Kivu region of the Congo. Language still remains the main barrier in talking to these people who are still open to the gospel. The operate more in French. Please any French literature would be welcome; my efforts to get these have so far proved futile.

On Friday, I visited two individuals:
a) Mr S., the blind man who has been coming to church, and his now even in the baptism class. He has missed church on account of illness, for almost a month. We arranged to meet every Tuesday to go over the lessons he has missed
b) Boniface K.- a young I had visited for some time, for bible studies. On account of his busy schedules, we had stopped the studies. We have agreed to resume, and meet every Friday. The young man has also been visited by JWs, as could be seen by their literature in his room. I left him with the booklet, Ultimate Questions to read. Pray for this young man eager t to bible study but obviously in danger of accepting error.

The Week Beginning 1st December, 2008

Monday, 1st December, I visited two individuals
in the same house hold.
a) Teresa, a teenage girl- who has recently professed church, and is staying with one of the members of the church, Miss Y.. She says she gave her life to the Lord after reading a small book I had given to her at the beginning of the year. This year, I have been giving our youths, books to read. Thank God for this encouraging report. Pray for this young girl that her testimony will be a challenge to other young people in church.
b) Later, I spent time with the guardian to Teresa, Miss Y.. She has not been active in church, she claims on account of her job. She has since changed jobs, and is now hoping to be more involved in the life of the church, since her new job will rarely involve travelling.

On Tuesday, I was with Mr S. once again.
This time I decided to press him for clarifications on his testimony. He confessed that he has been a Nicodemus, all the years he has gone to other churches. Only after coming to our church did he begin to understand who a Christian is. He finally received Christ after hearing a sermon from one of our visiting speakers. Now he wants me to be present at his home one of this evening so that he can testify to his family - wife and children, who he is convinced are still lost, and are still going to the other church. Praise the Lord with us brethren

I later visited another young man,
also in the baptism class, Kelvin N.. He too was convinced he was a Christian when he came to stay with his guardian, a member of our church. For a bout three years he kept putting off the idea of accepting that he was not a Christian, until he heard a vernacular sermon, at our vernacular preaching point in Shimabala. After the service he went home and gave his life to the Lord. Yes, we know not how the Spirit moves convincing men of sin. Praise be to his name.

Later, I had an encouraging oversight visit
with Mr and Mrs C., as we made a review of the past year. Both of them are now involved in at least one ministry in the church. They seem to have made progress in their Christian lives.

On Tuesday, in the evening I had the privilege of preaching
at the UTH cell group of KBC, as part of their outreach during this festive season. They had quite a number of visitors. Pray for the effectiveness of the gospel preached.

For these and other items, we would like you to join us in prayer.
