REPORT FROM GRACE REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH

Dear Brethren
I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It is refreshing to write this letter to you
as I reflect on the happenings in our church during the last fortnight. Before I give you the stories concerning the church , allow me to let you know that we received our first rains yesterday evening. Thank God for the good weather. The past days have been very hot that it was affecting my movements.

The day of covenanting one with another as members of the body of Christ is drawing closer. The period of preparation has been that of self examination in most of us. To prepare for the day we have been looking at the responsibilities and privileges of a church member during our evening services.

On 09/11/08 we had the Lord's supper during the evening service. Last Sunday I preached on Believer's Baptism. This was to prepare those to be baptized and give the reason, why those who still are not sure should consider baptism by immersion. At the of the service, Mrs. Dingase B., the one who had not seen the reason why she should be re-baptized because of her Roman Catholic baptism, said that the message had affected her. We are to see what effect the message will have on her. Its my prayer that the Lord will be merciful with her.

As I promised, I will give you the testimony of one of those who are ready to undergo baptism. I hereby give you as follows:

Her name is Grace B. and she is 48 years old a single parent of six children. She was born and grew up in a Jehovah's witness family and she was baptized when she was 15 years old. She believed in salvation by works. Grace B. was married and divorced twice hence the children. Her second divorce caused disturbance in the relationship with her parents. Her father was an elder in the church and he was not happy with what her daughter had brought upon the family. Divorced and with the family that had disowned her and her children, she was left to fend for her children worse off to look after her terminally ill first daughter without any help. The Lord was gracious to her in that the Lord extended the life of her daughter for a season. She had stopped attending the JW church. One Sunday morning in 2006, she told her firstborn daughter to go to any church and worship. She remained at home, when her daughters went back home they reported what they had seen and what the message was. The theme of the message was "come to Jesus and rest"(Matthews 11:25-29)

Grace remembered the words of a certain lady from Pentecostal Holiness who had quoted the same words to her. She that God was calling her. The following Sunday she joined her children at church. Since then she has been transformed. She now believes in salvation by faith and not by works. Although her parents have now called her a rebel because of her faith, she says she has found one precious thing in her life through the Lord Jesus Christ. Her wish to be baptized is that she is convinced that she was baptized before she believed. Her daughter died in 2007. I believe that this summary of her testimony has brought out who Grace B. is. She needs your prayers.

On our family matters the Lord has always been good to us. We are so thankful for what he is doing. Our son Lovemore B. who is at CBU was last night elected secretary of Zafes CBU. His message to us was that we should pray for him that he would serve the Lord with his whole heart in this organization. As a family we are so happy for him.

This Sunday on 23rd November 2008 we shall have a guest speaker from Covenant College, Rev Cees, and on 29.11.08 we will conduct our third baptism.
