NOVEMBER REPORT ONE 2009
This report looks at the activities of the first half of November. 1st November - The Church met for group activities with children outnumbering the adults by far. I taught the new members' class. We looked the responsibilities of leaders and members. A good number of people attended the main service. I continued with our studies in the book of Hosea. In the evening, I continued with our studies in the book of Ruth at Riverside Chapel. 2nd November - One of our members had a mother seriously sick in hospital. We went to see her, but there was little life remaining in her. We discussed at length to find the way out of her problem. 3rd November - When I was getting ready to go and see the member's mother in hospital, I got a message that she had passed on. We had to get the body ready for transportation to Choma. We were at the funeral house until quite late. 4th November - We made all the necessary arrangements for transporting the body to Choma. Finally, they departed with a number of relatives and some brethren. Later in the day, I lead a bible study. We looked at what it takes to follow Christ as He challenged James and John whether they were willing to drink His cup. 5th November - I went to attend a house group Bible Study. This house group targets non-Christians. There were few people present. We looked at what is true commitment to the Lord.6th November - We began the day with the elders' prayer peeting. We looked at some of the issues affecting our members and weekend activities. We committed these to the Lord. 8th November - During group activities, I taught the new member's class. We looked at the assurance of salvation. A number of people did not come for the main service. We looked at the sin of hypocrisy from the book of Hosea. We saw how people are not ashamed to commit this sin. We also looked at how sin corrupts worship most. In the evening, I continued with a series from the book of Hosea at Riverside Chapel. 9th November - We met for the local leader's meeting. We looked at some of the projects that need our attention. We agreed to begin with the ones we can afford and others will come later. 10th November - We went to see the family which had come back from Choma for the funeral. They narrated to us how hectic their journey had been. While we were there, we got news that one of our associate members had passed on. 11th November - There was a funeral for our associate member. My wife left for Lusaka to see my mother-in-law. We just learned that she had cancer of the throat. I went ahead with the funeral service. I preached on the son of sorrow and happiness as we looked at the death of Rachel. She gave a name to the son, as she died, the son of my sorrows. The father gave him another name, the son of my right hand. Later in the day, we had the elder's business meeting. We looked at the teachings and some of our members who need pastoral attention. 12th November - We met for evangelistic Bible Studies. We had three visitors and the rest were members. I led the bible study and we looked at looking for the wrong things as we follow the Lord Jesus. 13th November - We had a prayer meeting with the elders. We received reports about various issues in the Church and some of our members. We prayed for these items. In the evening, we had another prayer meeting with the men of the Church. A number of them were away planning for the outing. The few that were there prayed. PRAYER ITEMS
