JULY 2009 REPORT TWO The report covers ministerial activities of the second half of July. 16th July - I attended an evangelistic bible study in one of our house groups. There were a number of young people who are relatives to some of our members. We did more singing as we were waiting for our visitors. The leader just did completed the introduction and encouraged all of us to invite people. After this, I went to the hospital to see Lillian with her husband. 17th July - We had a prayer meeting with the elders. We looked at some of the issues affecting the Church. We also prayed over some coming activities. 18th July - I went to attend a funeral of one of our members who had lost a sister. The members of his family received much comfort from our presence. Later, I went to see Lillian at the hospital. She was still in agony. I moved on to see a couple who had been evicted from their house. They were planning to go separate ways. I encouraged them to come to our home if they had no place to go. 19th July - This Lord's Day we began with group bible studies. We had a number of students visiting. The students took the main service. They ministered in songs and one of their group preached. He challenged us to be missionary-minded. During the evening service I was preaching on the Lordship of Christ. We considered the authority of Christ. We also saw how to submit to His authority.20th July - I met a school boy on the street. I invited him home. He had problems at school and he wanted prayers. I urged him to surrender his life to Christ. In the evening I met with members of a family who were preparing for the wedding of their daughter. We looked at some of the problems they had encountered. 21st July - My wife lost an uncle in the nearby town. We joined many members of the family at the cemetery. We sadly noted that the man had not been attending any Church. He died at the age of sixty-seven. 22nd July - I went to see Lillian at the hospital. She was restless and crying in agony. We all stood watching her helplessly. Later, I went to attend the evangelistic bible study in a house group. We had two visitors in attendance. Everyone participated in the discussions. 23rd July - I went to see Lillian at the hospital. She was a sorry sight as she was unconscious and gasping for breath. In the afternoon, I left to go and attend a funeral in Kafue. I spent a night in Kabwe, which is half way to Kafue . In the evening, I got a call from the husband that Lillian had died. 24th July - I attended the burial of my brother-in-law in Kafue . Many people had come and it was a very emotional reunion. After the burial, I started off for Kitwe. I reached Kitwe at midnight and went straight to the funeral house. I consulted with the deacons what they had done and went to talk to Lillian's husband, who is a member of our Church. He was devastated. We talked at length. I went to talk to some of the mourners outside. I left at 03:30 hrs. 25th July - I got a message that one of our members, Joshua, was in hospital. I went to see him and found that he was on oxygen and having difficulties in breathing. Later in the evening I was preaching at the funeral house. We looked at how brief the life of man is yet full of troubles. 26th July - We had a guest service. Many people had not come to Church. My colleague was preaching and he was looking at the prodigal son. In the afternoon we had a baptism service. We were baptising four people while we were receiving the other four into membership by profession of faith. We moved on to the funeral house and one of our members was preaching. 27th July - We gathered at Church for the funeral service. We did not have enough room for the people who came. Many people sat outside. I preached on the theme, ‘I know my Redeemer lives.'
