Church Planter, Eldoret, Kenya

Naphtally has been involved in church-planting since 1975 when he was a part of establishing Trinity Baptist Church in Nairobi, Kenya.  He holds a BA in Theology from Wales Evangelical School of Theology in Brynterion Wales.  He and his wife, Helida, and their two children are involved in a three-year-old church-planting work at Grace Baptist Church in Eldoret, north of Kisumu.

Testimony

I was born in 1954 to a religious family. My mother is a Christian and is still alive while my dad died in 1991. The religion of my parents only made me a hypocrite. Early 1971 in my first year at Secondary School during a 'Challenge Weekend', God used the gospel preaching to show me that I was not prepared to meet Him in judgment. On the same day He opened my eyes to see my desperate need of Christ Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I repented of my sins and put my whole trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to save me. From that day, I began to experience peace with God, a growing desire to please Him and an increasing hatred for sin. My wife's name is Helida and we have two children, Tim (17) who also has made a profession of faith, and Liz (13).

Call to Ministry

When the Lord saved me, He put within me a desire for His word. This desire was not just for personal reading and study of the Scriptures, there was a growing longing to teach and preach. In 1975 I met Pastor Keith Underhill in Kenya. Together, we started Trinity Baptist Church Nairobi and in 1984 I joined him in the eldership. Between 2003 and 2004, I attended Wales Evangelical School of Theology in Brynterion Wales for BA in Theology. I worked with Trinity Baptist Church Nairobi till September 2006 when I left Nairobi for Eldoret town (about 350 Km North) due to family illness. I now pastor a new congregation called Grace Baptist Church Eldoret.

Doctrinal Belief

In 1975 when I met Keith Underhill, he introduced me to the Doctrines of Grace. The Lord enabled me to understand and believe these great truths without 'putting up a fight' as so many tend to do. Instead, I am constantly humbled as I consider these glorious doctrines. I accept the whole Bible (the 66 commonly received books of the OT and NT) and subscribe to the 1689 Baptist Confession of faith. I cherish and uphold dearly the Reformed Faith.
